VALDOSTA —
Something needs to be done about the red light on St. Augustine in front of Toys R Us. It's ridiculous when we have to sit through three red lights coming off of Gornto because the green light is not long enough. Only a few cars can get through. Please look into this!
Next time someone asks me to let them go purchase my groceries with their food stamps then bring them to me and I pay them cash, I will snap a photo with my cell of you and turn you in. This is why our country is in the bad shape it is. Get a job and stop flim flams. The ones giving them the opportunity to do this are just as guilty and should be charged, also.
In the April-June issue of the City Beat that comes with the water bill stated that, "Yard waste must be kept out of the streets and away from storm drains." I have complained to the City Marshal’s office and given specific addresses that this is a problem and nothing is being done. When is the city going to enforce the rules that they create?
To Mayor Bullard in Hahira: Why not reopen the recycling center and charge us the fee that we have to pay to the county? Then those of us around Hahira won't have so far to drive to dump and you make money for your city.
A big rave to all the ladies who waited for their boyfriend to come home during WWII, remaining chaste and loyal. While not depicted on today's TV shows of shallow anti-American values, you really made the character of the Greatest Generation of the 1940s. Your letters were priceless. Thank you, ladies.
To the racist ranter on "European bigots"— How is it racist to dislike criminals being allowed into your country to cost billions on an already-failing economy? How is it patriotic to allow people to break laws? Most of us "Europeans" have nothing against legal immigration. You Democrats have got to find a better approach than pulling the race card on every issue!
I wish my parents were hard on my younger siblings as they were hard on us. I learned excellent work skills and everything that they made me do as a kid made me a stronger person. My spoiled siblings will never make it in the real world.
Charity is not a function of government. Government's job is to protect the individual. Charity is better handled by private organizations that are better equipped to determine who needs how much for how long. Government programs never die, they only get bigger.

Over 150 applicants applied for the handful of teaching jobs in Lowndes County. Plus, almost every single paraprofessional is a certified teacher who has been waiting patiently, “doing their time.” And, Lake Park Elementary hires a teacher who has quit, not once, but twice before. The "good ole' boy" network at its finest.

Have we progressed to the point where we are arguing about gay marriage? I thought the South was still outraged about blacks being able to marry whites! Hmm...We will catch up to the rest of the world eventually.

I found the cartoon referencing Tim Tebow's Christianity on Thursday's editorial page very offensive. I can agree that many people are out for what God can do for them, not how they can serve God, But I do not see any evidence of that attitude or life style in Tim Tebow's life. Time will tell.

Good riddance to the doctor unable to take Medicaid patients?! Do you work for free? I bet you go to work and expect a paycheck. Why would the doctor be any different? Blame our fearless leaders, not the doctors. And you are WAY out of line questioning whether that person is Christian or not. Sounds like the person who thinks preachers should work for free.

Amazing: Even a judgmental person like yourself can’t even bother to get the facts straight before you criticize something. Jason Collins did an extremely brave thing by coming out in a world filled with people such as yourself. Words of Wisdom: Leave the judging to God.

To all who use Coleman Road as a short cut between Old Highway 41 North and North Valdosta Road, please remember the speed limit is 35, not 65. Tailgating me isn’t going to make me go faster. Remember, it’s our neighborhoods, not your short cut!

I hope Al Sharpton finds time to visit the mother in Brunswick whose baby was shot point blank in the forehead while in his baby stroller. Perhaps the reverend could also counsel the angry young black man who pulled the trigger. Oh wait, the baby was white. Never mind.

I thought that all schools had dress codes that the teachers and substitutes had to follow? When I walk into the school it looks like they are headed to the pool instead of the classroom. Tank tops and skimpy skirts are not allowed. Come on, administration, make them follow the rules. Thank you, to the teachers and staff that do adhere to the dress code.

Property tax should be based on value. School taxes should be separate and assessed to each household equally, no exemptions. The rich, middle and poor should pay equally for children's public education.
