VALDOSTA —
To the person who doesn't understand merchant credit card fees: those fees are charged to guarantee funds to the merchant. They agree to pay the fee in exchange for knowing the purchase is covered. Oh, and one other thing, it is a violation of the merchant agreement to charge a fee to accept a credit card. They can require a minimum purchase, but no “use fee.” A simple call to Visa or Discover will see either the terminal or the fee swiftly removed from the tag office.
Yes, people, don't talk smack about Obama's healthcare policy until you know the facts! Does anybody truly know what the facts are? Hardly, and the ones who think they do will more than likely be surprised.
Governors Scott of Florida and Perry of Texas, among others, may be on to something. I think from now on, I will decide which parts of the law I choose to abide by and ignore the parts I don’t like.
Stalkers and hundreds of oglers view photos on Facebook. If you don't want others criticizing yours, don't put them on it. Some photos should be left in the camera.
I want to rave about the new Maryland Fried Chicken on Ashley Street. The other night I stopped in after work because they were having a special. What I found was a happy, courteous staff that seemed to like their jobs and delicious, tender fried chicken. Keep up the tasty work!
To those so bent out of shape, let's face facts: Single parents don’t cut it. If I die or my wife dies, whoever is left would not do as good of a job as two. Those who must, take on a heroic task and I commend them, but it's still not as good as two.
To the "Raver" who was so impressed by the protesters standing in the heat that it was enough to form your vote... how about learning the pros and cons of T-SPLOST, then forming your opinion. Folks like you are the problem, you don't form an opinion from the facts just the signs.
To the person voting "no" to T-SPLOST because of the people holding signs at city hall. If I go stand in front of city hall in the heat, will you do whatever my sign says?
With all the cutbacks that are being made by the Governor, the Governor's Honor Program should be cut. As a taxpayer, that million dollars should be used in more needed areas, such as, schools to help our children graduate, mental health programs. Providing a summer camp for privileged children, who will have no problem getting into college is a waste of money.

How long is it going to take AT&T telephone and/or Mediacom cable to do something about the vines and bushes growing over the cable lines at Mt. Zion Church Road and Academy Acres. The lines are pulled down where a 6 foot person can touch them. We won’t have any cable service or phone service if something is not done about this pretty soon.

Alright Sister's Pizza, how am I supposed to cheat on my diet if you stay closed! The other pizza places are too far from downtown for my lunch hour and are a bit too greasy.

I am thankful I chose to stick with Deep South Sanitation. Our trash is always picked up right on time and he never leaves anything behind. After all my neighbors' trash is "picked up," often items are strewn by the road and the cans are either left in the road or fallen in or beside the road. Get rid of the big company and move to Deep South, if you want true customer service!

Over 150 applicants applied for the handful of teaching jobs in Lowndes County. Plus, almost every single paraprofessional is a certified teacher who has been waiting patiently, “doing their time.” And, Lake Park Elementary hires a teacher who has quit, not once, but twice before. The "good ole' boy" network at its finest.

Have we progressed to the point where we are arguing about gay marriage? I thought the South was still outraged about blacks being able to marry whites! Hmm...We will catch up to the rest of the world eventually.

I found the cartoon referencing Tim Tebow's Christianity on Thursday's editorial page very offensive. I can agree that many people are out for what God can do for them, not how they can serve God, But I do not see any evidence of that attitude or life style in Tim Tebow's life. Time will tell.

Good riddance to the doctor unable to take Medicaid patients?! Do you work for free? I bet you go to work and expect a paycheck. Why would the doctor be any different? Blame our fearless leaders, not the doctors. And you are WAY out of line questioning whether that person is Christian or not. Sounds like the person who thinks preachers should work for free.

Amazing: Even a judgmental person like yourself can’t even bother to get the facts straight before you criticize something. Jason Collins did an extremely brave thing by coming out in a world filled with people such as yourself. Words of Wisdom: Leave the judging to God.

Raves to Mrs. Kay and Mrs. Sylvia at Cook Primary! They have the best behaved class and are the best teachers in that school!

To all who use Coleman Road as a short cut between Old Highway 41 North and North Valdosta Road, please remember the speed limit is 35, not 65. Tailgating me isn’t going to make me go faster. Remember, it’s our neighborhoods, not your short cut!
