VALDOSTA — A person said cheap, illegal labor equals cheap food. Not! Unless you’re one in seven on food stamps. Give us back massive taxes sucked up by the very broad and deep illegal and welfare fiasco and we can then afford to pay more for food using welfare recipients.

Why do you print rants from people who cannot make an understandable sentence?

I think the immigrants that are here and work and do not get in trouble or live off the system should be able to obtain a green card easier with certain restrictions. A few weeks ago I passed by two fields at around 7 a.m. and those guys were already working. Later that evening, about 8 p.m., I returned the same route and they were still out there. Tell me how many citizens will be in the hot sun for that long?

Did you know gas is 10 cents/gallon cheaper in Hahira than Valdosta? Yep. Saw it for $2.98 at the Big Foot Truck Stop at Exit 29. Don’t get ripped off in Valdosta.

Where is it written that a candidate for county commission post expects and receives special treatment with county services?

A ranter insinuated political signs can be posted on public land. City ordinance does not allow political signs on the right-of-way or on public land.

They need more of those hospitalist doctors at night. They have too many patients to get to them all when somebody has to go in the hospital.

To the ranter concerning conservatives should support amnesty to illegal immigrants since President Reagan tried it. You’re wrong. Conservatives learned from this failure, when will you?

I’m not nearly as disturbed about illegal immigrants being here as much as I am disturbed that they receive benefits from our government. As a U.S. citizen, I am struggling in this economy yet I don’t qualify for anything. Our government is out of control and needs to be stopped!

Praise or compliments are something most earn through hard work and accomplishments. Not something someone gives freely just because you’ve known folks for years. Do unto others as you’d have them do unto you.

Don’t you just hate it when people look down on the latest immigrants so much; yet depend on them to do their dirty work? It’s kind of like in earlier times when other minority groups were used as house labor. Remember that the only “True Americans” are the Native Americans.

I am a student at Valdosta State University, I pay thousands of dollars in tuition, but I am not allowed to use the Student Recreation Center because I am not taking summer classes. I was told that I have to pay $45 to use the Rec Center during the summer. As if I don't pay enough already... Utterly ridiculous.

Truly embarrassing that our community euthanizes 12 animals daily. Our citizenry hasn’t progressed to understand responsibility. The end result in these horrible economic times is the ongoing suffering of animals. Other locales nearby have solved this problem; mandatory spay/neuter and breeding licenses are needed to stop this scourge. Let’s get serious, please!

I think what the County Commissioners  are doing to Deep South Sanitation is outrageous and I think the citizens of Lowndes County should remember this during the next election. They are giving away freedom of choice. This man had this trash collection before Advanced.

The City of Valdosta needs another cable company! Competition is a great thing.

Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I'm quite pleased with Advanced Disposal. I'm paying less than I paid for service with Veolia, the service is reliable and they offer a large recycling bin. I don't understand what's "socialist" about offering county residents affordable, reliable service.

Closing the trash drop off was a big mistake. I live in Stone Creek so now I can’t put anything beside the street, now I have to haul it to the landfill and pay by weight. I had to pay $15, then I have to pay the trash pick up monthly. Something is wrong in this picture. I have a lot of yard waste, so now I have to take it to the landfill every time I clean yards.

I live in Brooks County. A while back, a limb fell at the edge of my yard. I called the road department asking to remove it. I was told they could not help because it was on private property. Later driving down Johnson Short Road, I saw the road department removing limbs from a yard. I have found out the limbs were on private property.

Do people in Valdosta not understand that when you lag behind at a green light there are people behind you that will not make the green light due to your inconsideration?

Mosquitoes in the city are growing fast. But sanitation and cable bills in so-called "Metro Valdosta" are growing even faster!

We live in Stone Creek and couldn't be happier with Deep South Sanitation! They are the best. People don't realize that they come get your trash can and put it back on the side of the house! Keep fighting Deep South, and know you have our support!
