Please bring Minor League Baseball to Valdosta. Valdosta could support a team. You have the interstate, military base, Wild Adventures, Valdosta State University, metro status, Georgia Military College, and a lot of baseball fans. How about it, Valdosta?
For the VPD and VSU, that incident that took place at that Frat House was clearly a hazing incident. If someone bit half of my ear off, I surely would want to prosecute.
Welfare rebuttal, you missed the point. Welfare should cover two or three children at most and not provide a safety net to people who choose to be irresponsible and have more children and expect society to pay for them. Also, rich or poor, children tax exemptions should be limited so all pay their fair share.
I would like to sincerely thank the remarkable staff of the Baytree Animal Hospital. I cannot begin to describe the degree of love, dedication and compassion that the entire staff exhibits towards our pets. Thank you for all you do.
I am unemployed due to a lay off. I have been dropping off resumes at multiple Valdosta employers — some who continuously complain they “cannot find an experienced educated workforce.” Yet I am told they have no openings for my experience and education. Seems, like the less educated you are in this town, the more likely of getting a job!
Maybe now is the time to ban fraternities and sororities from the Georgia university system.
Thank you, Jesus, for building the Options Now pregnancy support building. Now, who do we thank for adopting and supporting the unwanted babies, to avoid subjecting them to lives of abuse and poverty? Republican Lowndes County certainly doesn’t want any part of the burden of care.
Regarding VSU’s fraternity misfits, VPD is the agency primarily responsible for law enforcement at the fraternity houses. These are private “businesses” and are not VSU-owned property. VSU police may, however, respond, assist and make arrests where necessary as it is within their jurisdictional limits.
Thank you, Stacey, from Advance Auto your smile and sweet personality brightened my day!
Just wanted to send out a big rave to the staff of Gerlock Dance Studio! My 3-year-old granddaughter was a first-time student this year and I thought the recital on Saturday morning was just fantastic! Thanks again to Carol and all the teachers for their hard work.

Over 150 applicants applied for the handful of teaching jobs in Lowndes County. Plus, almost every single paraprofessional is a certified teacher who has been waiting patiently, “doing their time.” And, Lake Park Elementary hires a teacher who has quit, not once, but twice before. The "good ole' boy" network at its finest.

Have we progressed to the point where we are arguing about gay marriage? I thought the South was still outraged about blacks being able to marry whites! Hmm...We will catch up to the rest of the world eventually.

I found the cartoon referencing Tim Tebow's Christianity on Thursday's editorial page very offensive. I can agree that many people are out for what God can do for them, not how they can serve God, But I do not see any evidence of that attitude or life style in Tim Tebow's life. Time will tell.

Good riddance to the doctor unable to take Medicaid patients?! Do you work for free? I bet you go to work and expect a paycheck. Why would the doctor be any different? Blame our fearless leaders, not the doctors. And you are WAY out of line questioning whether that person is Christian or not. Sounds like the person who thinks preachers should work for free.

Amazing: Even a judgmental person like yourself can’t even bother to get the facts straight before you criticize something. Jason Collins did an extremely brave thing by coming out in a world filled with people such as yourself. Words of Wisdom: Leave the judging to God.

Raves to Mrs. Kay and Mrs. Sylvia at Cook Primary! They have the best behaved class and are the best teachers in that school!

To all who use Coleman Road as a short cut between Old Highway 41 North and North Valdosta Road, please remember the speed limit is 35, not 65. Tailgating me isn’t going to make me go faster. Remember, it’s our neighborhoods, not your short cut!

I hope Al Sharpton finds time to visit the mother in Brunswick whose baby was shot point blank in the forehead while in his baby stroller. Perhaps the reverend could also counsel the angry young black man who pulled the trigger. Oh wait, the baby was white. Never mind.

I thought that all schools had dress codes that the teachers and substitutes had to follow? When I walk into the school it looks like they are headed to the pool instead of the classroom. Tank tops and skimpy skirts are not allowed. Come on, administration, make them follow the rules. Thank you, to the teachers and staff that do adhere to the dress code.

Property tax should be based on value. School taxes should be separate and assessed to each household equally, no exemptions. The rich, middle and poor should pay equally for children's public education.
