VALDOSTA —
A huge thank you to Ronnie from D and D Locksmiths on Alden. My daughter could not remove the key from her car. Ronnie assisted and would not allow me to recompense him. A true Christian spirit. Bless you.
Why is the 1 percent special district transportation sales and use tax called TSPLOST? It states that it is for region and state programs and projects. Lowndes County has to send back to other counties 35 percent of what we collect. We will be a donor county. That’s not Local and won’t be an Option if this passes. Isn’t that Special?
Your request has been answered. Gluten-free pizza will be offered soon at Wooden Nickel Pub. They will offer other gluten-free and vegan items on their menu as well. Enjoy.
In order to be compliant to the new city ordinance of no grass, weed, or undergrowth being over eight inches high, we are trying to decide whether to put Roundup on the entire yard, or ask that the tenants all park on the grass so the grass will disappear. Or should we just get gravel or clay dumped everywhere?
A big rave to Will Robinson and his staff at the Valdosta Food Bank for the wonderful service at the DFACS Day for the Lowndes County adoption group. Thanks to all of you who made this a great event.
Since the city is giving citations for yards with tall grass, why don’t they give citations to people who are still watering their lawns during the no-water periods? At any given morning, there are at least a half a dozen lawns being watered in the Eager Subdivision.
A big thank you to northbound Ashley Street drivers at 5 p.m. Many of you let cars out of businesses into traffic. We are grateful for your wonderful courtesy. Thank you.
Bathing and using toilets are luxuries? Remind me to never, ever go near your house.
Why is it that I’m not allowed to water my vegetable garden, but VSU is allowed to put two sprinklers on brand-new sod all afternoon?
Lowndes County Animal Control: Please patrol Lake Park, especially Cypress Lakes and Indian Head Lake area and you’ll find plenty of pets wandering around. You could easily make your budget with those owners that refuse to confine their pets.
You can pay your county utility bill online. I’ve been doing it for years. I just use my bank’s online bill pay option (where I can add anyone I want to pay online) and have had no problems. Good Luck.

Over 150 applicants applied for the handful of teaching jobs in Lowndes County. Plus, almost every single paraprofessional is a certified teacher who has been waiting patiently, “doing their time.” And, Lake Park Elementary hires a teacher who has quit, not once, but twice before. The "good ole' boy" network at its finest.

Have we progressed to the point where we are arguing about gay marriage? I thought the South was still outraged about blacks being able to marry whites! Hmm...We will catch up to the rest of the world eventually.

I found the cartoon referencing Tim Tebow's Christianity on Thursday's editorial page very offensive. I can agree that many people are out for what God can do for them, not how they can serve God, But I do not see any evidence of that attitude or life style in Tim Tebow's life. Time will tell.

Good riddance to the doctor unable to take Medicaid patients?! Do you work for free? I bet you go to work and expect a paycheck. Why would the doctor be any different? Blame our fearless leaders, not the doctors. And you are WAY out of line questioning whether that person is Christian or not. Sounds like the person who thinks preachers should work for free.

Amazing: Even a judgmental person like yourself can’t even bother to get the facts straight before you criticize something. Jason Collins did an extremely brave thing by coming out in a world filled with people such as yourself. Words of Wisdom: Leave the judging to God.

Raves to Mrs. Kay and Mrs. Sylvia at Cook Primary! They have the best behaved class and are the best teachers in that school!

To all who use Coleman Road as a short cut between Old Highway 41 North and North Valdosta Road, please remember the speed limit is 35, not 65. Tailgating me isn’t going to make me go faster. Remember, it’s our neighborhoods, not your short cut!

I hope Al Sharpton finds time to visit the mother in Brunswick whose baby was shot point blank in the forehead while in his baby stroller. Perhaps the reverend could also counsel the angry young black man who pulled the trigger. Oh wait, the baby was white. Never mind.

I thought that all schools had dress codes that the teachers and substitutes had to follow? When I walk into the school it looks like they are headed to the pool instead of the classroom. Tank tops and skimpy skirts are not allowed. Come on, administration, make them follow the rules. Thank you, to the teachers and staff that do adhere to the dress code.

Property tax should be based on value. School taxes should be separate and assessed to each household equally, no exemptions. The rich, middle and poor should pay equally for children's public education.
