Only in Valdosta could a little kid knock on your door selling 5 cents worth of sugar, water, and lemon for a dollar and you have the right to call the cops on them for soliciting without a license.
The fact that employers would cut hours to avoid having to provide health care for their employees says more about them than it does about the President. The employers are basically saying, “we only need you this much.”
Is there anything that can be done to get the waste disposal sites open again? We paid the fee and were pleased with the services. It seems unfair that they were closed to us. Lowndes County citizens that want the service back should unite over this.
To the person who stated they get a headache when they read the happy raves on Wednesdays. Maybe they need to have their head examined.
On the dump closing, I think they should have left the dumps open until everyone had a can to put their garbage in. As of today, no can, called three times, and have been told getting there. In the meantime, what are we supposed to do? Said our pickup date is Thursday. If no can, should we just put our garbage out by the curb?
Advanced Disposal expects you to put your lawn trash into brown paper bags. What a joke. You should be able to pile it beside the road and them come along and scoop it up. Yes burning, burning, and more burning will be occurring in the future.
To the people that are fussing, whining and crying about the dump sites closing, are probably the same ones that had either complained, fussed, scratched off and threw gravel, rocks, or always complaining and mistreating the attendants. Now as you’re dumping your garbage in your garbage cans ... remember karma.
Gun control, the President says, is the right thing to do. How about submitting a budget, which the Senate is mandated to do and has not done in the last four years. Is that not the right thing to do?
I am willing to give the new county trash policy a try. I will not have to haul the trash to the sites anymore. In addition, my wife and I hurriedly hauled big items to the trash sites before the sites closed!
I would like to know why is it when you pay your electric bill at the local Georgia Power company or try to take care of other business they put all your business on blast for everyone to hear ...

Over 150 applicants applied for the handful of teaching jobs in Lowndes County. Plus, almost every single paraprofessional is a certified teacher who has been waiting patiently, “doing their time.” And, Lake Park Elementary hires a teacher who has quit, not once, but twice before. The "good ole' boy" network at its finest.

Have we progressed to the point where we are arguing about gay marriage? I thought the South was still outraged about blacks being able to marry whites! Hmm...We will catch up to the rest of the world eventually.

I found the cartoon referencing Tim Tebow's Christianity on Thursday's editorial page very offensive. I can agree that many people are out for what God can do for them, not how they can serve God, But I do not see any evidence of that attitude or life style in Tim Tebow's life. Time will tell.

Good riddance to the doctor unable to take Medicaid patients?! Do you work for free? I bet you go to work and expect a paycheck. Why would the doctor be any different? Blame our fearless leaders, not the doctors. And you are WAY out of line questioning whether that person is Christian or not. Sounds like the person who thinks preachers should work for free.

Amazing: Even a judgmental person like yourself can’t even bother to get the facts straight before you criticize something. Jason Collins did an extremely brave thing by coming out in a world filled with people such as yourself. Words of Wisdom: Leave the judging to God.

To all who use Coleman Road as a short cut between Old Highway 41 North and North Valdosta Road, please remember the speed limit is 35, not 65. Tailgating me isn’t going to make me go faster. Remember, it’s our neighborhoods, not your short cut!

I hope Al Sharpton finds time to visit the mother in Brunswick whose baby was shot point blank in the forehead while in his baby stroller. Perhaps the reverend could also counsel the angry young black man who pulled the trigger. Oh wait, the baby was white. Never mind.

I thought that all schools had dress codes that the teachers and substitutes had to follow? When I walk into the school it looks like they are headed to the pool instead of the classroom. Tank tops and skimpy skirts are not allowed. Come on, administration, make them follow the rules. Thank you, to the teachers and staff that do adhere to the dress code.

Property tax should be based on value. School taxes should be separate and assessed to each household equally, no exemptions. The rich, middle and poor should pay equally for children's public education.
