VALDOSTA —
You may think it is alright for your 18-year-old to drink at home and have friends over, but when one of those friends is my child and we do not allow her to drink and found out she is at your house drinking we have put your house off limits. I really wanted to call the police, but figure in time someone will get pulled over and then they will come a knocking!
If you were at church on Sunday morning, you wouldn't have to worry about your neighbor cutting his grass.
How ironic that, after the article in the paper about the center turn lane on Ashley, I see a city vehicle sitting in it waiting to merge. Another time, I saw someone running about 40 in the turn lane to get ahead of the cars in the travel lane.
The white bar at many intersections is, by law, where you are supposed to stop. It is also just in front of where the traffic light sensors are located. If you stop too far back or too far forward, you will not activate the traffic light sensor, and you will likely cause a hazard.
I support the city enforcing laws about mowing the grass. If a lawn is not tended well, it creates an eyesore, lowers surrounding property values, lowers neighborhood pride, and spreads weeds to surrounding properties.
Wonder how much it cost the taxpayers of Berrien County to move the Relay for Life from the high school track to the town square. There must have been 10 or more police officers blocking the square.
I want to thank the man who stopped to check on me and change my tire when it “exploded” on Hwy 82 Friday. I was coming from Albany after attending my daughter’s very first school field trip. I don’t know how long we would have had to wait in the heat for my insurance to arrive and change the tire. Hopefully, it won’t cost me a new vehicle to get the bumper fixed.
I, for one, am delighted the Air Force is cutting back on air shows. Too many dreadful accidents and loss of life at those and all so unnecessary. Please, let our brave pilots practice away from crowds. I appreciate what they do but see no point in putting people on the ground at risk no matter how exciting these shows are. And, after all, it’s another way to save some money.
What a great job the paving folks did on Northside Drive between Ashley and Forest Streets ... in and out in three days. Now, if somebody would notify the line painting people. It’s tough driving at night on that stretch, especially if it’s raining.

How long is it going to take AT&T telephone and/or Mediacom cable to do something about the vines and bushes growing over the cable lines at Mt. Zion Church Road and Academy Acres. The lines are pulled down where a 6 foot person can touch them. We won’t have any cable service or phone service if something is not done about this pretty soon.

Alright Sister's Pizza, how am I supposed to cheat on my diet if you stay closed! The other pizza places are too far from downtown for my lunch hour and are a bit too greasy.

I am thankful I chose to stick with Deep South Sanitation. Our trash is always picked up right on time and he never leaves anything behind. After all my neighbors' trash is "picked up," often items are strewn by the road and the cans are either left in the road or fallen in or beside the road. Get rid of the big company and move to Deep South, if you want true customer service!

Over 150 applicants applied for the handful of teaching jobs in Lowndes County. Plus, almost every single paraprofessional is a certified teacher who has been waiting patiently, “doing their time.” And, Lake Park Elementary hires a teacher who has quit, not once, but twice before. The "good ole' boy" network at its finest.

Have we progressed to the point where we are arguing about gay marriage? I thought the South was still outraged about blacks being able to marry whites! Hmm...We will catch up to the rest of the world eventually.

I found the cartoon referencing Tim Tebow's Christianity on Thursday's editorial page very offensive. I can agree that many people are out for what God can do for them, not how they can serve God, But I do not see any evidence of that attitude or life style in Tim Tebow's life. Time will tell.

Good riddance to the doctor unable to take Medicaid patients?! Do you work for free? I bet you go to work and expect a paycheck. Why would the doctor be any different? Blame our fearless leaders, not the doctors. And you are WAY out of line questioning whether that person is Christian or not. Sounds like the person who thinks preachers should work for free.

Amazing: Even a judgmental person like yourself can’t even bother to get the facts straight before you criticize something. Jason Collins did an extremely brave thing by coming out in a world filled with people such as yourself. Words of Wisdom: Leave the judging to God.

To all who use Coleman Road as a short cut between Old Highway 41 North and North Valdosta Road, please remember the speed limit is 35, not 65. Tailgating me isn’t going to make me go faster. Remember, it’s our neighborhoods, not your short cut!
