VALDOSTA —
With this new education policy, be assured no child behind will be left alone.
A big rave for the new TV Guide in the VDT with the Saturday and Sunday evening and afternoon schedules and it lists more channels. Thank you.
Way to go, VDT! I love the new TV guide section of the paper. Thanks for listening to our concerns.
I hate your new TV guide.
As long as we insist in this country that we must educate the masses and insist that everyone must graduate to be a success, then we're going to have to dumb down the information. Europe and Asia only educate their best and brightest. That's why it appears that we're “behind,” but you really can't compare us to them.
Loved the article on the MED clinic being implemented in the Berrien County School system. What an awesome concept! How fortunate for the students and teachers in the school system. Kudos to Sherrie Williams, the MED director for all of her hard work and vision!
Arts stories aren't news? In a town as starved for culture as Valdosta, I'll take arts and culture stories over drug busts and car wrecks any day of the week. That stuff's going to happen everywhere anyway. The arts are important.
Those nice cops are behind tinted windows for their protection. The same reason very dark tinted windows aren't allowed for the general public. Check long past history and you'll see some officers were caught by surprise and killed because of tinted windows.
If the school system is going to apply a mastery learning technique, then they need to separate the learning levels so that the advanced students don't have to wait on the slow learners to catch up. It's not fair to the upper level students.
If food stamp recipients spend foolishly for crab legs or steak, then they will be the ones who suffer when their food dollars don't stretch as far as they could, not you. So, why do you care what they buy?
It's none of your business what those nice cops are doing behind those tinted windows. That's why they are tinted.
Not all children are cut out for college or an academic lifestyle. No matter what the grading policy, many students should be placed on a vocational track if they fall behind academically. They will have a head start on the rest of their lives if they learn something they are able to use while still in high school.

I know two LMS students who have continuously been in trouble this year and had mostly failing grades; however, now they are being promoted because teachers no longer can give zeros, but have to record a 60, even for assignments not turned in! How is it ethical to give grades that weren’t earned and what does this teach about responsibility and consequence?

If you cannot watch your children, perhaps you shouldn’t have children.

Concerning taking up multiple parking spots in “public” lots. Remember that these are mostly on private lots (including Walmart) and the only reason they don’t say anything is because they don’t want you taking your money elsewhere. A little courtesy, especially on busy days, goes a long way.

I apologize to anyone my child annoyed at Chick-Fil-A Saturday when I went to the bathroom ...

Are we really replacing hard-working persons with illegal aliens just to save a few dollars? Business owners should be wary and take care of those who have helped them get where they are now!

To the person who is referring to people complaining about people being on welfare; no one was pin-pointing you. I have been simply referring to the people to openly advertise how they cheat the system and never have to work, and live better than I do. And, for your information, I too am a single mother who struggles everyday to provide for my son. So, honey, I have walked a mile if not more in my own shoes of despair.

I have also heard the gunshots in Hahira. I’ve lived there for years but it seems to have gotten worse lately. I tried to tell a policeman in the store the other day but ... The last time I heard the shots was actually a couple Sundays ago, around lunchtime. I've assumed it was people hunting in the woods around Union Road but the shot pattern didn’t sound conducive to this last time.

Raves and thanks to SODEXO, who keeps our little part of Lowndes County (Mineola) clean and beautiful. We appreciate it!

I too would like to see a minor league baseball team located in Valdosta, but I doubt if it would be supported well enough to justify.

I am a Lowndes County resident speaking to the city leaders concerning LOST. Everyone’s budgets are tight. I hope you are ready to pay the attorney’s fees and court costs out of your decided share. I do not want my share of the tax offset to be reduced because of you.
