Congratulations to the Lowndes High Winter guard for being ranked sixth in the nation and winning the silver medal at SAPA championships this season. Amazing accomplishments for the team and staff in only their second year in existence.
When I first drove in Valdosta, I thought most of the drivers were 80 years old. Now I realize that there are very few geriatric drivers. Everyone else is just rehearsing for their old age behind the wheel.
I feel like a prisoner trapped by rising prices of gas, grocery, insurance, etc. Prices continue to rise but my salary only increases a small amount yearly. I have no major credit cards and do not have any entertainment expenses. Basically I stay at home almost all the time. Please someone tell me what I can cut to survive!
You choose to buy a car and a house. You don't choose to live. Requiring people to buy health insurance, just because they were born, is a violation of their free will.
I must rave about a clerk in the city permitting office. I always find that Cathy is cheerful, knowledgeable and I always leave with a smile on my face. The city is lucky to have her on the staff.
Sorry friend, but if a "sliced artery" in a finger can wait until the next day and can be handled in a family physician's office, then you too did not belong in an emergency room. I’m sorry you had a bad experience but I doubt you know what a true emergency is either.
Thank you Dr. Eric Dodson, D.P.M. and staff for finding what was wrong with my foot pain for two years. You found it in one visit and the doctor in Michigan could not find it in 10 visits but sent in a large bill to the insurance.
Kudos to the Valdosta Senior Strutters Line Dancers from the Valdosta Senior Center for the wonderful luncheon and tribute to Jeanette Coody, Woman of the South, winning the Jennie Award. The speeches were heartwarming.
If you are sick and tired of "hearing" about racism, imagine how the people who have to live with it feel. Just treat people fairly, the way you want to be treated, and problem solved.

Over 150 applicants applied for the handful of teaching jobs in Lowndes County. Plus, almost every single paraprofessional is a certified teacher who has been waiting patiently, “doing their time.” And, Lake Park Elementary hires a teacher who has quit, not once, but twice before. The "good ole' boy" network at its finest.

Have we progressed to the point where we are arguing about gay marriage? I thought the South was still outraged about blacks being able to marry whites! Hmm...We will catch up to the rest of the world eventually.

I found the cartoon referencing Tim Tebow's Christianity on Thursday's editorial page very offensive. I can agree that many people are out for what God can do for them, not how they can serve God, But I do not see any evidence of that attitude or life style in Tim Tebow's life. Time will tell.

Good riddance to the doctor unable to take Medicaid patients?! Do you work for free? I bet you go to work and expect a paycheck. Why would the doctor be any different? Blame our fearless leaders, not the doctors. And you are WAY out of line questioning whether that person is Christian or not. Sounds like the person who thinks preachers should work for free.

Amazing: Even a judgmental person like yourself can’t even bother to get the facts straight before you criticize something. Jason Collins did an extremely brave thing by coming out in a world filled with people such as yourself. Words of Wisdom: Leave the judging to God.

Raves to Mrs. Kay and Mrs. Sylvia at Cook Primary! They have the best behaved class and are the best teachers in that school!

To all who use Coleman Road as a short cut between Old Highway 41 North and North Valdosta Road, please remember the speed limit is 35, not 65. Tailgating me isn’t going to make me go faster. Remember, it’s our neighborhoods, not your short cut!

I hope Al Sharpton finds time to visit the mother in Brunswick whose baby was shot point blank in the forehead while in his baby stroller. Perhaps the reverend could also counsel the angry young black man who pulled the trigger. Oh wait, the baby was white. Never mind.

I thought that all schools had dress codes that the teachers and substitutes had to follow? When I walk into the school it looks like they are headed to the pool instead of the classroom. Tank tops and skimpy skirts are not allowed. Come on, administration, make them follow the rules. Thank you, to the teachers and staff that do adhere to the dress code.

Property tax should be based on value. School taxes should be separate and assessed to each household equally, no exemptions. The rich, middle and poor should pay equally for children's public education.
