-- — “Single Parent homes just don’t cut it” how dare you say that a single parent can not be a good role model for their child. I happen to be a very good role model. Not all marriages work out.

Seriously, if you are still pulling the race card then you have some other issues going on. Blame everybody else for your problems.

Apparently you were asleep during President Bush’s eight years while he was personally attacked constantly. Guess it was fine then. Should I call you racist if you were black and opposed President Bush?

Saw the new ID requirements for a drivers license. When mine renews in 2015 the state will request in addition to today’s requirements, a thumb print, eye laser scan and no doubt a blood test. Where is the ACLU when you need them.?

“Single Parent households just don’t cut it?” Wow. There are many productive people who come from single parent households. Sure it would be great for kids to have both mom and dad in their lives consistently, but it just doesn’t happen that way all the time. It’s been like that for ages, i.e. many years ago when dads went off to war for years at a time ...

Raves to the folks who stood in front of City Hall on Thursday afternoon. If they were dedicated enough to stand in the heat to hold their T-SPLOST protest signs, then they convinced me that this is an important vote. My vote will be what the signs say: “No.”

My mom’s a single parent. My brother and I both went to top ranked colleges and have two degrees. I work in education and my brother’s a Major in the US ANG. Before you judge single parents, I think my mom did a very good job! Some of the most successful productive people I know come from single parent households.

To the person who said single parent households don’t cut it. Kudos to you for having a Mom and Dad in your home. Some people are so lucky. Divorce and Death happen everyday. Kids grow up everyday in single households and go on to live very productive lives. Until you are in a single parent’s shoes don’t speak of something you obviously don’t know anything about. I was a single mother for 12 years and my son has done just fine. His grandfather and uncle stepped up as the male role models in his life. Single parent household’s are a way of life,  get over it.

Over 150 applicants applied for the handful of teaching jobs in Lowndes County. Plus, almost every single paraprofessional is a certified teacher who has been waiting patiently, “doing their time.” And, Lake Park Elementary hires a teacher who has quit, not once, but twice before. The "good ole' boy" network at its finest.

Have we progressed to the point where we are arguing about gay marriage? I thought the South was still outraged about blacks being able to marry whites! Hmm...We will catch up to the rest of the world eventually.

I found the cartoon referencing Tim Tebow's Christianity on Thursday's editorial page very offensive. I can agree that many people are out for what God can do for them, not how they can serve God, But I do not see any evidence of that attitude or life style in Tim Tebow's life. Time will tell.

Good riddance to the doctor unable to take Medicaid patients?! Do you work for free? I bet you go to work and expect a paycheck. Why would the doctor be any different? Blame our fearless leaders, not the doctors. And you are WAY out of line questioning whether that person is Christian or not. Sounds like the person who thinks preachers should work for free.

Amazing: Even a judgmental person like yourself can’t even bother to get the facts straight before you criticize something. Jason Collins did an extremely brave thing by coming out in a world filled with people such as yourself. Words of Wisdom: Leave the judging to God.

Raves to Mrs. Kay and Mrs. Sylvia at Cook Primary! They have the best behaved class and are the best teachers in that school!

To all who use Coleman Road as a short cut between Old Highway 41 North and North Valdosta Road, please remember the speed limit is 35, not 65. Tailgating me isn’t going to make me go faster. Remember, it’s our neighborhoods, not your short cut!

I hope Al Sharpton finds time to visit the mother in Brunswick whose baby was shot point blank in the forehead while in his baby stroller. Perhaps the reverend could also counsel the angry young black man who pulled the trigger. Oh wait, the baby was white. Never mind.

I thought that all schools had dress codes that the teachers and substitutes had to follow? When I walk into the school it looks like they are headed to the pool instead of the classroom. Tank tops and skimpy skirts are not allowed. Come on, administration, make them follow the rules. Thank you, to the teachers and staff that do adhere to the dress code.

Property tax should be based on value. School taxes should be separate and assessed to each household equally, no exemptions. The rich, middle and poor should pay equally for children's public education.
