VALDOSTA —
Editor’s Note: In 2013, Wednesdays will be rave-only days. Thank you to our readers for your support.
I found it necessary to go to the ER at Louis Smith Memorial Hospital Friday, March 1st, at 4:30 a.m. I would like to commend Miranda, Denise, Cindy, Charlotte and PA Buck, as well as the xray tech whose name I failed to get for their professional care and concern. They were the greatest. Thank you all.
I would like to commend the Times. I don’t always agree with you but I commend your coverage. Thank you.
To the man busing tables at Smokin' Pig on Thursday night: You were really hustling! We were in the restaurant for a long time waiting for our order, and we couldn't help but notice your hard work. You should be proud.
Thanks to my VDT carrier Sharon Carter for your years of exemplary service. She has been my carrier for many years and I have never had any problems.
Kudos to the Lanier County Board of Education superintendent, Keith Humphrey. You are always on top of things and make sure our schools are run smoothly. I am happy that my children attend these schools and that their safety is your number one concern. Thanks for always being there.
Great big raves to the Temple Israel for their awesome fundraiser. I look forward to the sandwich sale every year, and adding the online option to buy tickets has made it that much more fantastic. I just wish they were for sale everyday. We need a deli!
Thanks to SGMC Heart Center for the care they gave me last week. They are angels in my book. They are a 10, not just a five. My prayers will be with you and all of those you care for. May God be with you.
My husband and I eat out quite often in Valdosta. One of our favorite places to eat is Cheddars because of one of the waiters named Daniel. He is always polite, professional, prompt, and very friendly to talk to. Cheddars is a better place because of him. I hope Cheddars sees that.
A special thank you to the Valdosta Daily Times newspaper carrier who was so faithful in delivering the papers to those addresses on Shiloh Road and the surrounding community. He traveled several extra miles each day for a week due to the flooding on Shiloh Road. You are appreciated!

Over 150 applicants applied for the handful of teaching jobs in Lowndes County. Plus, almost every single paraprofessional is a certified teacher who has been waiting patiently, “doing their time.” And, Lake Park Elementary hires a teacher who has quit, not once, but twice before. The "good ole' boy" network at its finest.

Have we progressed to the point where we are arguing about gay marriage? I thought the South was still outraged about blacks being able to marry whites! Hmm...We will catch up to the rest of the world eventually.

I found the cartoon referencing Tim Tebow's Christianity on Thursday's editorial page very offensive. I can agree that many people are out for what God can do for them, not how they can serve God, But I do not see any evidence of that attitude or life style in Tim Tebow's life. Time will tell.

Good riddance to the doctor unable to take Medicaid patients?! Do you work for free? I bet you go to work and expect a paycheck. Why would the doctor be any different? Blame our fearless leaders, not the doctors. And you are WAY out of line questioning whether that person is Christian or not. Sounds like the person who thinks preachers should work for free.

Amazing: Even a judgmental person like yourself can’t even bother to get the facts straight before you criticize something. Jason Collins did an extremely brave thing by coming out in a world filled with people such as yourself. Words of Wisdom: Leave the judging to God.

Raves to Mrs. Kay and Mrs. Sylvia at Cook Primary! They have the best behaved class and are the best teachers in that school!

To all who use Coleman Road as a short cut between Old Highway 41 North and North Valdosta Road, please remember the speed limit is 35, not 65. Tailgating me isn’t going to make me go faster. Remember, it’s our neighborhoods, not your short cut!

I hope Al Sharpton finds time to visit the mother in Brunswick whose baby was shot point blank in the forehead while in his baby stroller. Perhaps the reverend could also counsel the angry young black man who pulled the trigger. Oh wait, the baby was white. Never mind.

I thought that all schools had dress codes that the teachers and substitutes had to follow? When I walk into the school it looks like they are headed to the pool instead of the classroom. Tank tops and skimpy skirts are not allowed. Come on, administration, make them follow the rules. Thank you, to the teachers and staff that do adhere to the dress code.

Property tax should be based on value. School taxes should be separate and assessed to each household equally, no exemptions. The rich, middle and poor should pay equally for children's public education.
