VSU Football just went from being a D-2 powerhouse to being a D-2 Dynasty! Thank you for representing this community and our winning traditions with class! Congrats on being National Champs!
I see here often where parents complain about teachers not contacting them about their child's grades. Well, how does this teacher feel when e-mails to parents throughout the semester go unanswered? Parents, please make certain you keep the school updated with any changes in your email account, and please reply when teachers send you information.
Please don't lump all children into one category. I'm sure you didn't like it when the adults called your generation lazy and disrespectful. There are some great kids out there doing wonderful things. My child has great manners, is respectful to adults, and loves helping people. Give them a chance. Besides, there are more than enough lazy and rude people in your generation, and nobody's writing you off.
Rave to the Northside Baptist Church choir and orchestra for the great Christmas musical. It was very inspiring.
Wouldn’t it be great if everyone in Valdosta and Lowndes County made a contribution to the Empty Stocking Fund in honor and memory of Newtown, Conn.
My earliest memory of Christmas decorations in Valdosta includes one that read "Seasons Greetings.” To us, it was synonymous with "Merry Christmas,” but that's no longer true. Today it's used as a dodge to exclude Christmas from this Christian holiday. Let's ensure all our greetings include a "Merry Christmas" and not a disingenuous, generic greeting.
The timing of the traffic signals in Valdosta is proof that anyone, and I mean anyone can get a job, a government job.
If every letter you write to the editor is about race, then who has a problem with race?
If there were a group ready and willing to lease the existing building attached to the old courthouse that is being considered for demolition, would the county lease it?
I appreciate Dean Poling’s thoughtful comments on responsible and respectful behavior — words I will try to better embrace.
Rant and Rave, thanks for posting the location of the lights down in Madison. Wow! What a light show is all I can say.

Alright Sister's Pizza, how am I supposed to cheat on my diet if you stay closed! The other pizza places are too far from downtown for my lunch hour and are a bit too greasy.

I am thankful I chose to stick with Deep South Sanitation. Our trash is always picked up right on time and he never leaves anything behind. After all my neighbors' trash is "picked up," often items are strewn by the road and the cans are either left in the road or fallen in or beside the road. Get rid of the big company and move to Deep South, if you want true customer service!

Over 150 applicants applied for the handful of teaching jobs in Lowndes County. Plus, almost every single paraprofessional is a certified teacher who has been waiting patiently, “doing their time.” And, Lake Park Elementary hires a teacher who has quit, not once, but twice before. The "good ole' boy" network at its finest.

Have we progressed to the point where we are arguing about gay marriage? I thought the South was still outraged about blacks being able to marry whites! Hmm...We will catch up to the rest of the world eventually.

I found the cartoon referencing Tim Tebow's Christianity on Thursday's editorial page very offensive. I can agree that many people are out for what God can do for them, not how they can serve God, But I do not see any evidence of that attitude or life style in Tim Tebow's life. Time will tell.

Good riddance to the doctor unable to take Medicaid patients?! Do you work for free? I bet you go to work and expect a paycheck. Why would the doctor be any different? Blame our fearless leaders, not the doctors. And you are WAY out of line questioning whether that person is Christian or not. Sounds like the person who thinks preachers should work for free.

Amazing: Even a judgmental person like yourself can’t even bother to get the facts straight before you criticize something. Jason Collins did an extremely brave thing by coming out in a world filled with people such as yourself. Words of Wisdom: Leave the judging to God.

Raves to Mrs. Kay and Mrs. Sylvia at Cook Primary! They have the best behaved class and are the best teachers in that school!

To all who use Coleman Road as a short cut between Old Highway 41 North and North Valdosta Road, please remember the speed limit is 35, not 65. Tailgating me isn’t going to make me go faster. Remember, it’s our neighborhoods, not your short cut!

I hope Al Sharpton finds time to visit the mother in Brunswick whose baby was shot point blank in the forehead while in his baby stroller. Perhaps the reverend could also counsel the angry young black man who pulled the trigger. Oh wait, the baby was white. Never mind.
