Rant & Raves for Friday, November 16, 2012

VALDOSTA — I want to thank the person in a white PT Cruiser at Bojangles on Tuesday for paying for my lunch. I will pay it forward. Thank you again.

I would like to take a moment to rave about the owner/operator of Chick-Fil-A on St. Augustine Road, Charlie Crews. In the year and a half I’ve been eating there, I can tell you he is a man of honor, character, and integrity. He loves the Lord and it is very evident in how he runs his business and he has certainly earned my respect.

We can order anything on the menu including a kid’s meal if that is all we want to eat. You cannot be forced to order a meal that is more than what you want to eat or can afford. Be thankful that you have customers because without them you wouldn’t have a job.

After the past years of voter fraud, lack of ID support for voter identification, military members votes not being counted or allowed. Seems to me that this voting procedure is in the immediate need for change.

In regards to the ranter about kid’s meals, a lot of people don’t order full-size meals because it is just too much. That is the reason we have so many overweight  people in America because the meals are portioned to the biggest. It is not because we are cheap.

To the poster who said people who order off the kid’s meal are cheap, did you ever stop to consider that some of us struggle with weight issues and are trying to avoid the temptation afforded by the oversize portions in many restaurants?

Those who are dissatisfied about the way tithes are used and you think the pastors are living lavish lifestyles, that pastor will have to answer to God. The tithes are to be used for the church’s needs such as missions, expenses of the church and the needs of others. Meet with church officials, ask questions and don’t assume.

So let me get this straight. It takes big church buildings to feed the hungry? I guess Jesus didn’t know that when He fed 5,000 people fish and loaves, and he never had a building fund and he never took up an offering. Big buildings don’t feed the hungry. They feed the ego of some religious superstar that is  nothing like Jesus Christ.

To the ranter complaining that schools not collecting money from high school games, where do you think the money from ticket sales goes?

Now that the question has been put forth, I’d like to know what happens with the money made from high school sports. Where does it go?

Alright Sister's Pizza, how am I supposed to cheat on my diet if you stay closed! The other pizza places are too far from downtown for my lunch hour and are a bit too greasy.

I am thankful I chose to stick with Deep South Sanitation. Our trash is always picked up right on time and he never leaves anything behind. After all my neighbors' trash is "picked up," often items are strewn by the road and the cans are either left in the road or fallen in or beside the road. Get rid of the big company and move to Deep South, if you want true customer service!

Over 150 applicants applied for the handful of teaching jobs in Lowndes County. Plus, almost every single paraprofessional is a certified teacher who has been waiting patiently, “doing their time.” And, Lake Park Elementary hires a teacher who has quit, not once, but twice before. The "good ole' boy" network at its finest.

Have we progressed to the point where we are arguing about gay marriage? I thought the South was still outraged about blacks being able to marry whites! Hmm...We will catch up to the rest of the world eventually.

I found the cartoon referencing Tim Tebow's Christianity on Thursday's editorial page very offensive. I can agree that many people are out for what God can do for them, not how they can serve God, But I do not see any evidence of that attitude or life style in Tim Tebow's life. Time will tell.

Good riddance to the doctor unable to take Medicaid patients?! Do you work for free? I bet you go to work and expect a paycheck. Why would the doctor be any different? Blame our fearless leaders, not the doctors. And you are WAY out of line questioning whether that person is Christian or not. Sounds like the person who thinks preachers should work for free.

Amazing: Even a judgmental person like yourself can’t even bother to get the facts straight before you criticize something. Jason Collins did an extremely brave thing by coming out in a world filled with people such as yourself. Words of Wisdom: Leave the judging to God.

Raves to Mrs. Kay and Mrs. Sylvia at Cook Primary! They have the best behaved class and are the best teachers in that school!

To all who use Coleman Road as a short cut between Old Highway 41 North and North Valdosta Road, please remember the speed limit is 35, not 65. Tailgating me isn’t going to make me go faster. Remember, it’s our neighborhoods, not your short cut!

I hope Al Sharpton finds time to visit the mother in Brunswick whose baby was shot point blank in the forehead while in his baby stroller. Perhaps the reverend could also counsel the angry young black man who pulled the trigger. Oh wait, the baby was white. Never mind.
