VALDOSTA —
I traveled to Laconia, N.H., for the oldest Motor Cycle Bike Week in the U.S.A. I found the state's highways to be an extreme pleasure to travel on and through. Reason: The state will not allow corporate signs to be built or posted along their major highways.
We were not informed properly by the City about the grass ordinance. We read it in the paper. Landlords can not afford this additional expense. The economy is going in the wrong direction; therefore, causing more vacancies, giving the landlords another expense. It hurts us, the elderly, the poor, and the ones who can't afford to cut their grass as much as a city Marshall might like.
My son is a child at VMS who was bullied. When my child told the teacher during lunch, she looked at him as if he was crazy and then walked away.
I also like peace and quiet on Sunday morning. But I do not expect my neighbor to stop his life so I can sleep in. Here is a suggestion: If his grass looks like he might mow it over the weekend, be a nice neighbor and mow it for him during the week. Then you and the neighbor can start Sunday morning on a peaceful note.
Come on, LCS, we're crowded enough already without you letting all these out-of-system people come in. At least use the tuition money to pay more teachers!
If insurance companies and the federal government will co-pay for Americans to buy only generic drugs, where and to whom are the authentic brand-name drugs being distributed?
Congratulations to Lauren Braun and her SIS students for a fantastic International Dinner! You all did a brilliantly splendid job. Great food, entertainment and fun for all! Bravo!
Bravo to the Valdosta Choral Guild! I attended a few different concerts this past weekend and yours was by far the best performance! Keep up the good work!
I didn’t know the secret service agents needed chaperones. I thought they were chaperones.
I learned today that something that I have held for years as an example of pure rudeness was actually a known act of courtesy under those specific circumstances. Hopefully, the person just took pity on me for my ignorant reaction. It is very humbling when you realize you have actually been the kind of person you despise. Well earned crow!

Over 150 applicants applied for the handful of teaching jobs in Lowndes County. Plus, almost every single paraprofessional is a certified teacher who has been waiting patiently, “doing their time.” And, Lake Park Elementary hires a teacher who has quit, not once, but twice before. The "good ole' boy" network at its finest.

Have we progressed to the point where we are arguing about gay marriage? I thought the South was still outraged about blacks being able to marry whites! Hmm...We will catch up to the rest of the world eventually.

I found the cartoon referencing Tim Tebow's Christianity on Thursday's editorial page very offensive. I can agree that many people are out for what God can do for them, not how they can serve God, But I do not see any evidence of that attitude or life style in Tim Tebow's life. Time will tell.

Good riddance to the doctor unable to take Medicaid patients?! Do you work for free? I bet you go to work and expect a paycheck. Why would the doctor be any different? Blame our fearless leaders, not the doctors. And you are WAY out of line questioning whether that person is Christian or not. Sounds like the person who thinks preachers should work for free.

Amazing: Even a judgmental person like yourself can’t even bother to get the facts straight before you criticize something. Jason Collins did an extremely brave thing by coming out in a world filled with people such as yourself. Words of Wisdom: Leave the judging to God.

Raves to Mrs. Kay and Mrs. Sylvia at Cook Primary! They have the best behaved class and are the best teachers in that school!

To all who use Coleman Road as a short cut between Old Highway 41 North and North Valdosta Road, please remember the speed limit is 35, not 65. Tailgating me isn’t going to make me go faster. Remember, it’s our neighborhoods, not your short cut!

I hope Al Sharpton finds time to visit the mother in Brunswick whose baby was shot point blank in the forehead while in his baby stroller. Perhaps the reverend could also counsel the angry young black man who pulled the trigger. Oh wait, the baby was white. Never mind.

I thought that all schools had dress codes that the teachers and substitutes had to follow? When I walk into the school it looks like they are headed to the pool instead of the classroom. Tank tops and skimpy skirts are not allowed. Come on, administration, make them follow the rules. Thank you, to the teachers and staff that do adhere to the dress code.

Property tax should be based on value. School taxes should be separate and assessed to each household equally, no exemptions. The rich, middle and poor should pay equally for children's public education.
