Every week someone is complaining about the sheriff’s office. Do you think for one minute that we do not understand who is putting this in the paper. They put their lives on the line for all of us. I appreciate all of them.
Every profession has their fair share of rude people. It is not just the trucking companies. If it was not for truck drivers, where would your groceries, clothing and other needs come from?
I agree that school shouldn’t have fundraisers. No one wants to buy or sell that junk. If the schools can pay for luncheons and parties for the faculty, then the kids shouldn’t have to raise money for supplies!
How many T-shirts can one school promote to sell? Did someone forget most of us are on a tight budget?
Shame on you people who think it’s a nuisance to have a homecoming parade. This is a special time in our children’s lives. If you don’t like parades then by all means stay home!
Not all parents or grandparents can go to school functions. The little sad faces say it all when they see others with their family members. It should be limited to after-hour meetings with your teacher, not the whole school.
Unfortunately, new Lowndes County tags are prefaced with the letters — PEE. I refuse to display this offensive word.
It’s disappointing to read criticisms of our schools in the newspaper. Why not contact the administration and air your grievances? Schools need our support — now, more than ever before.
We walk every day from Chick-fil-A to Highway 84 and back. That’s three miles every day. There are places that you cannot walk side by side. The grass has almost grown over the sidewalk. Now the city wants to put in more sidewalks? And who is supposed to trim this sidewalk?
Breeders should stop making money off of poor little animals. It is cruel and they suffer dearly. Please adopt a pet from the animal shelter before they are put to death.
Only the minds of women with no male influence could come up with a “Pajama Day” or a “Crazy Sock Day” (which female “managers” came up with, at a place where I quit the job quickly after that, rather than work for anyone with the maturity of a 9-year old).
I think Mr. Rose wrote a wonderful article for Thursday’s paper. I so enjoyed it that I told everybody in our office that they should read it. Well done, Mr. Rose.

Over 150 applicants applied for the handful of teaching jobs in Lowndes County. Plus, almost every single paraprofessional is a certified teacher who has been waiting patiently, “doing their time.” And, Lake Park Elementary hires a teacher who has quit, not once, but twice before. The "good ole' boy" network at its finest.

Have we progressed to the point where we are arguing about gay marriage? I thought the South was still outraged about blacks being able to marry whites! Hmm...We will catch up to the rest of the world eventually.

I found the cartoon referencing Tim Tebow's Christianity on Thursday's editorial page very offensive. I can agree that many people are out for what God can do for them, not how they can serve God, But I do not see any evidence of that attitude or life style in Tim Tebow's life. Time will tell.

Good riddance to the doctor unable to take Medicaid patients?! Do you work for free? I bet you go to work and expect a paycheck. Why would the doctor be any different? Blame our fearless leaders, not the doctors. And you are WAY out of line questioning whether that person is Christian or not. Sounds like the person who thinks preachers should work for free.

Amazing: Even a judgmental person like yourself can’t even bother to get the facts straight before you criticize something. Jason Collins did an extremely brave thing by coming out in a world filled with people such as yourself. Words of Wisdom: Leave the judging to God.

Raves to Mrs. Kay and Mrs. Sylvia at Cook Primary! They have the best behaved class and are the best teachers in that school!

To all who use Coleman Road as a short cut between Old Highway 41 North and North Valdosta Road, please remember the speed limit is 35, not 65. Tailgating me isn’t going to make me go faster. Remember, it’s our neighborhoods, not your short cut!

I hope Al Sharpton finds time to visit the mother in Brunswick whose baby was shot point blank in the forehead while in his baby stroller. Perhaps the reverend could also counsel the angry young black man who pulled the trigger. Oh wait, the baby was white. Never mind.

I thought that all schools had dress codes that the teachers and substitutes had to follow? When I walk into the school it looks like they are headed to the pool instead of the classroom. Tank tops and skimpy skirts are not allowed. Come on, administration, make them follow the rules. Thank you, to the teachers and staff that do adhere to the dress code.

Property tax should be based on value. School taxes should be separate and assessed to each household equally, no exemptions. The rich, middle and poor should pay equally for children's public education.
