-- — You do have a choice when it comes to smart meters. Get off the power grid and buy a generator or install solar to supply your home.

What's up with the new Lowndes Superintendent hiring from the outside? What signal does that send to loyal employees and you talk about trust.

I hope there are changes in administration at LMS. Look at the data.

The sanitation department for the city broke even but people don’t know all the vehicles used for that organization  are purchased by SPLOST money which supports an enterprise fund.  That may not be considered right by many.

I also have a complaint about the smart meter. My bill increased $101 and some change in just one month. There are only two of us living in the house.

The reasons the incident with the Lake Park Mayor and council was in the paper because it was news. If this had been in a larger city, it probably would have made the six o’clock national news.

Danielle, youth minister at The Rock, you are truly a blessing to the youth. The Vacation Bible School at The Rock rocks. My son has a blast. To the members who made it possible, thanks for everything you do.

I cannot believe why someone asked why we should tip. Don't they make minimum wage? No! Wait staff makes $2.13 an hour. This proves my theory that everybody should have to wait tables once in their life. Do everyone a favor, eat a TV dinner at your house alone.

To the ranter about SGMC's ambulances not being available. They also cover for Lanier County when Lanier is out doing transports. Lanier 911 callers  have to wait for mutual aid from Berrien, Clinch, Lowndes or any county that is available to come to our county while our ambulance is out running transports to generate income. I'd rather wait for one of these ambulances than to have one of the first responder firemen come to my rescue.

A big thank you to First United Methodist Church in Valdosta for putting on an incredible Vacation Bible School this week. My kids had a wonderful time and learned so much. You all are quite a blessing to this community!

In response to the person that asked why you tip when you go out, you tip because it's common courtesy and because your lovely server that you run crazy only makes $2.15 an hour. Don't be cheap.

Over 150 applicants applied for the handful of teaching jobs in Lowndes County. Plus, almost every single paraprofessional is a certified teacher who has been waiting patiently, “doing their time.” And, Lake Park Elementary hires a teacher who has quit, not once, but twice before. The "good ole' boy" network at its finest.

Have we progressed to the point where we are arguing about gay marriage? I thought the South was still outraged about blacks being able to marry whites! Hmm...We will catch up to the rest of the world eventually.

I found the cartoon referencing Tim Tebow's Christianity on Thursday's editorial page very offensive. I can agree that many people are out for what God can do for them, not how they can serve God, But I do not see any evidence of that attitude or life style in Tim Tebow's life. Time will tell.

Good riddance to the doctor unable to take Medicaid patients?! Do you work for free? I bet you go to work and expect a paycheck. Why would the doctor be any different? Blame our fearless leaders, not the doctors. And you are WAY out of line questioning whether that person is Christian or not. Sounds like the person who thinks preachers should work for free.

Amazing: Even a judgmental person like yourself can’t even bother to get the facts straight before you criticize something. Jason Collins did an extremely brave thing by coming out in a world filled with people such as yourself. Words of Wisdom: Leave the judging to God.

Raves to Mrs. Kay and Mrs. Sylvia at Cook Primary! They have the best behaved class and are the best teachers in that school!

To all who use Coleman Road as a short cut between Old Highway 41 North and North Valdosta Road, please remember the speed limit is 35, not 65. Tailgating me isn’t going to make me go faster. Remember, it’s our neighborhoods, not your short cut!

I hope Al Sharpton finds time to visit the mother in Brunswick whose baby was shot point blank in the forehead while in his baby stroller. Perhaps the reverend could also counsel the angry young black man who pulled the trigger. Oh wait, the baby was white. Never mind.

I thought that all schools had dress codes that the teachers and substitutes had to follow? When I walk into the school it looks like they are headed to the pool instead of the classroom. Tank tops and skimpy skirts are not allowed. Come on, administration, make them follow the rules. Thank you, to the teachers and staff that do adhere to the dress code.

Property tax should be based on value. School taxes should be separate and assessed to each household equally, no exemptions. The rich, middle and poor should pay equally for children's public education.
