Rant & Rave for Tuesday, March 19, 2013

-- — To the highly educated liberal who was spouting off about an uneducated redneck ... Sir/Ma'am, your rant proved just how ignorant you really are! You are neither open-minded or tolerant of others and I would demand a refund for this “education” you paid for. Also, conservatives are not in fear of change.... we are in fear of uninformed, closed-minded people who think they know what’s best for everybody.

Don't you dare tell me what to write in my rant. If I want to write about the sewage, I will. It was a terrible thing our city leaders did to us and the people down stream and they should hand in their resignations for all the violations they made knowingly.

Please, please, somebody tell us whether it's safe to eat the fish that we catch now out of the Withlacoochee River since 45 million gallons of sewage went into it. We need to know now, not in six months. What did the sampling turn up, will we ever know? Is it safe to eat the wild game near the river that feed?

I really wish people would stop referring to any damaging weather-related event as an “act of God.” Why not call it an “act of nature” ? A true “act of God” was Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross for repentant sinners. All the world's problems are caused by our sins and the curse placed on this world. Jesus paid the price to truly make us free if we choose him.

The Georgia Republican website says they stand for lower taxes and less government, yet Georgia Republican politicians invented and promoted the failed T-SPLOST and the home grown Municipal Optional Sales Tax, which is floundering due to blow back. Our Republican tax problem stems from the converted Democrats who converted in “name only” and are better known as RINOs. If the Republicans take over the “tax and spend” position, what will the Democrats stand for?

The U.S. is responding to "faster than anticipated North Korean progress on nuclear weapons and missiles.” Wait a minute. Didn't Jimmy Carter visit and say he was convinced that the North Koreans were using nuclear technology for peaceful purposes?

City and county officials are discussing another round of SPLOST and want to spend a “large percentage” of the money on water and sewer improvements. They still don’t get it. How about spending 100 percent on water and sewer improvements? Then I'll vote in favor of SPLOST.

I am thankful I chose to stick with Deep South Sanitation. Our trash is always picked up right on time and he never leaves anything behind. After all my neighbors' trash is "picked up," often items are strewn by the road and the cans are either left in the road or fallen in or beside the road. Get rid of the big company and move to Deep South, if you want true customer service!

Over 150 applicants applied for the handful of teaching jobs in Lowndes County. Plus, almost every single paraprofessional is a certified teacher who has been waiting patiently, “doing their time.” And, Lake Park Elementary hires a teacher who has quit, not once, but twice before. The "good ole' boy" network at its finest.

Have we progressed to the point where we are arguing about gay marriage? I thought the South was still outraged about blacks being able to marry whites! Hmm...We will catch up to the rest of the world eventually.

I found the cartoon referencing Tim Tebow's Christianity on Thursday's editorial page very offensive. I can agree that many people are out for what God can do for them, not how they can serve God, But I do not see any evidence of that attitude or life style in Tim Tebow's life. Time will tell.

Good riddance to the doctor unable to take Medicaid patients?! Do you work for free? I bet you go to work and expect a paycheck. Why would the doctor be any different? Blame our fearless leaders, not the doctors. And you are WAY out of line questioning whether that person is Christian or not. Sounds like the person who thinks preachers should work for free.

Amazing: Even a judgmental person like yourself can’t even bother to get the facts straight before you criticize something. Jason Collins did an extremely brave thing by coming out in a world filled with people such as yourself. Words of Wisdom: Leave the judging to God.

Raves to Mrs. Kay and Mrs. Sylvia at Cook Primary! They have the best behaved class and are the best teachers in that school!

To all who use Coleman Road as a short cut between Old Highway 41 North and North Valdosta Road, please remember the speed limit is 35, not 65. Tailgating me isn’t going to make me go faster. Remember, it’s our neighborhoods, not your short cut!

I hope Al Sharpton finds time to visit the mother in Brunswick whose baby was shot point blank in the forehead while in his baby stroller. Perhaps the reverend could also counsel the angry young black man who pulled the trigger. Oh wait, the baby was white. Never mind.

I thought that all schools had dress codes that the teachers and substitutes had to follow? When I walk into the school it looks like they are headed to the pool instead of the classroom. Tank tops and skimpy skirts are not allowed. Come on, administration, make them follow the rules. Thank you, to the teachers and staff that do adhere to the dress code.
