Rant & Raves for Friday, October 26, 2012

-- — This is the hypocrisy of the South: You can’t abort that baby that you don’t want; it’s your right to smoke while pregnant! If you believe in the sanctity of human life, then you should despise both abortion and poisoning a fetus while pregnant!

I don’t mind saying one of the reasons I voted for President Obama is because of his race. What makes you think your race is the only one qualified to run this country?

I just had lunch at Moulton Branch as a visitor and can’t believe the way some parents allow their daughters to dress! One second-grader was wearing a skirt that barely covered anything and the shirt was neon mesh that was see-through! Please stop allowing your children to dress beyond their age.

Dislike President Obama policies; but respect him as our leader.

You are lazy if: You park or “stand” in the fire zone; you park in the striped zones that are not parking spaces; you use someone else’s handicap placard (against the law).

The Haven’s number is (229) 244-1765 to the person who was asking about the Black Robes and White Horses — don’t know about them but The Haven is a God-sent blessing for women who need the help. God bless.

The Republican Party is too small for a republic and too large for an asylum.

Silent Ministries provides support, encouragement, and protection for children set to testify in abuse cases through our grass roots National Association For Child Protectors and Black Robes and White Horses. Through this faith-based ministry we help children with basic needs, legally called “necessaries.” This is from their website. They have a phone number in Lake Park: 559-6832

Let me buy you a steak dinner! Oh wait ... I already did. I saw you buying it on an EBT card, which has my tax dollars loaded on it.

My wife and I loved the story where the young people loudly objected to a screaming out-of-control child in the restaurant. Good for you! We have spent too much money on special date nights only to have an unruly brat ruin it. We know how to handle it from now on. Thank you for the idea.

For the people who started banging on their table  when the child was screaming and everybody around them started laughing and applauding, how do you think those people felt after they left the restaurant from your Southern hospitality?

Over 150 applicants applied for the handful of teaching jobs in Lowndes County. Plus, almost every single paraprofessional is a certified teacher who has been waiting patiently, “doing their time.” And, Lake Park Elementary hires a teacher who has quit, not once, but twice before. The "good ole' boy" network at its finest.

Have we progressed to the point where we are arguing about gay marriage? I thought the South was still outraged about blacks being able to marry whites! Hmm...We will catch up to the rest of the world eventually.

I found the cartoon referencing Tim Tebow's Christianity on Thursday's editorial page very offensive. I can agree that many people are out for what God can do for them, not how they can serve God, But I do not see any evidence of that attitude or life style in Tim Tebow's life. Time will tell.

Good riddance to the doctor unable to take Medicaid patients?! Do you work for free? I bet you go to work and expect a paycheck. Why would the doctor be any different? Blame our fearless leaders, not the doctors. And you are WAY out of line questioning whether that person is Christian or not. Sounds like the person who thinks preachers should work for free.

Amazing: Even a judgmental person like yourself can’t even bother to get the facts straight before you criticize something. Jason Collins did an extremely brave thing by coming out in a world filled with people such as yourself. Words of Wisdom: Leave the judging to God.

Raves to Mrs. Kay and Mrs. Sylvia at Cook Primary! They have the best behaved class and are the best teachers in that school!

To all who use Coleman Road as a short cut between Old Highway 41 North and North Valdosta Road, please remember the speed limit is 35, not 65. Tailgating me isn’t going to make me go faster. Remember, it’s our neighborhoods, not your short cut!

I hope Al Sharpton finds time to visit the mother in Brunswick whose baby was shot point blank in the forehead while in his baby stroller. Perhaps the reverend could also counsel the angry young black man who pulled the trigger. Oh wait, the baby was white. Never mind.

I thought that all schools had dress codes that the teachers and substitutes had to follow? When I walk into the school it looks like they are headed to the pool instead of the classroom. Tank tops and skimpy skirts are not allowed. Come on, administration, make them follow the rules. Thank you, to the teachers and staff that do adhere to the dress code.

Property tax should be based on value. School taxes should be separate and assessed to each household equally, no exemptions. The rich, middle and poor should pay equally for children's public education.
