So, a second chance, huh! So ..... I'm not studying for the first test, and if I happen to fail it, I'll study for the second test. Hmmmmm, does that mean that the school year will extend into the summer while we're giving everyone a second chance? I guess that's the democratic way. Averaging the class grade for everyone is next!
A couple questions. Who or what entity is paying for the Quitman 12 lawyers? How can anyone still believe the Chamber of Commerce is not political? Lastly, can anyone explain why Hahira’s city government does not back up important files with a hard copy? Just curious.
The new grading policy that Hahira Middle has just started allows students to redo any assignments they want. My child has already been given the opportunity to retake tests he didn't make a 100 on the first time. Why should students ever bother working hard and doing their best the first time around?
In response to the LCS's new grading policy, a middle school child was recently overheard saying he didn't have to study any more because he could just take the first test, then take the re-test when he failed the first time. Nice work, folks.
I want to thank the DivorceCare group at Crossroads. My life has been turned upside down by my recent divorce. Thanks for giving me a helping hand at this time in my life.
Newark Delaware — a group of small business owners have started the Delaware Small Business Chamber. Tailored more to their needs than existing Chamber of Commerce. Maybe that is what is needed locally.
Regarding Lowndes’ new grading policy. VCS have been putting grades of 60 or above and it has not reduced failure rates or dropout rates. If a student purposely did not complete an assignment and not because they did not understand, give them a zero. We are handicapping our kids and not preparing them for the "real" world.
Doctors, nurses, techs, and staff, please be professional. Don’t talk to a patient about their issues outside the patient room. Always have the door closed when you do. There is no privacy in this town.
Wonder why Westside is having their dance the same weekend as the Father-Daughter dance?
Last night we went to Pizza Hut on Ashley. The happy birthday singing employee was a real treat. Her enthusiasm and genuine joy was inspiring. She made my family's night. Thank you.

No wonder! I haven’t seen the Peanut Lady at my son’s baseball game in a while. ... The Peanut Lady has been selling at ball games forever. Shame on whoever banned the Peanut Lady!

I know two LMS students who have continuously been in trouble this year and had mostly failing grades; however, now they are being promoted because teachers no longer can give zeros, but have to record a 60, even for assignments not turned in! How is it ethical to give grades that weren’t earned and what does this teach about responsibility and consequence?

If you cannot watch your children, perhaps you shouldn’t have children.

Concerning taking up multiple parking spots in “public” lots. Remember that these are mostly on private lots (including Walmart) and the only reason they don’t say anything is because they don’t want you taking your money elsewhere. A little courtesy, especially on busy days, goes a long way.

Are we really replacing hard-working persons with illegal aliens just to save a few dollars? Business owners should be wary and take care of those who have helped them get where they are now!

To the person who is referring to people complaining about people being on welfare; no one was pin-pointing you. I have been simply referring to the people to openly advertise how they cheat the system and never have to work, and live better than I do. And, for your information, I too am a single mother who struggles everyday to provide for my son. So, honey, I have walked a mile if not more in my own shoes of despair.

I have also heard the gunshots in Hahira. I’ve lived there for years but it seems to have gotten worse lately. I tried to tell a policeman in the store the other day but ... The last time I heard the shots was actually a couple Sundays ago, around lunchtime. I've assumed it was people hunting in the woods around Union Road but the shot pattern didn’t sound conducive to this last time.

I too would like to see a minor league baseball team located in Valdosta, but I doubt if it would be supported well enough to justify.
