Be kind to others and smile. You never know what they are going through.
A huge rave for Jon Bowman and his Georgia Bridgemen staff and students. They were the second largest band (400 students) to play in the McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade. They are outstanding ambassadors representing Lowndes County and deserve our praise, thanks, and a standing ovation for their commitment and dedication. Thank you, Mr. Bowman, Mr. Mika, Mr. Maynard and everyone involved.
Many thanks to the gentleman or angel that paid for my mother’s fruit cake mix in Harvey’s about two weeks ago. You were used of God to bless her since she had just committed to God the previous month to pay her tithe regardless of what she needed to sacrifice... God’s blessings to you!
Way to go Hahira Middle School fans!!! What a class act you are jeering at a middle school player like that! Did that make you feel better? You have a great team....you should be cheering them on instead of trying to make a 12-year-old child feel bad. Great sportsmanship!!
I just love how no one is blaming President Obama for high fuel prices (last two years we paid more in fuel than anytime in history) and when President Bush was in office, it was all his fault!!! Hypocrisy at its finest!!! Fuel’s up 250 percent and economy is down under this administration!!!
Thanks to the family that displays Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang each year. I am over 50 and as long as I remember I have looked forward to it each Christmas. What is the history behind this display?
In response to the question about presidents paying for phones, insurance, and iPad: No president has ever done that. My taxes and insurance went up so that you could enjoy these “freebies”. Who do you think pays the government? Middle class taxpayers like me!
To the graduate student living on $330 per month and paying taxes thanking Obama for health insurance. You should be thanking the taxpayers and that is the part I resent. Why should I as a retiree pay part of yours with my taxes when I still pay for my insurance even today after 40 years of employment.
Many thanks to the person who turned in my lost keychain to the library. I’d dropped the keychain in the WalMart parking lot but because of the library card attached he turned it in there. Very thoughtful and appreciated.

How long is it going to take AT&T telephone and/or Mediacom cable to do something about the vines and bushes growing over the cable lines at Mt. Zion Church Road and Academy Acres. The lines are pulled down where a 6 foot person can touch them. We won’t have any cable service or phone service if something is not done about this pretty soon.

Alright Sister's Pizza, how am I supposed to cheat on my diet if you stay closed! The other pizza places are too far from downtown for my lunch hour and are a bit too greasy.

I am thankful I chose to stick with Deep South Sanitation. Our trash is always picked up right on time and he never leaves anything behind. After all my neighbors' trash is "picked up," often items are strewn by the road and the cans are either left in the road or fallen in or beside the road. Get rid of the big company and move to Deep South, if you want true customer service!

Over 150 applicants applied for the handful of teaching jobs in Lowndes County. Plus, almost every single paraprofessional is a certified teacher who has been waiting patiently, “doing their time.” And, Lake Park Elementary hires a teacher who has quit, not once, but twice before. The "good ole' boy" network at its finest.

Have we progressed to the point where we are arguing about gay marriage? I thought the South was still outraged about blacks being able to marry whites! Hmm...We will catch up to the rest of the world eventually.

I found the cartoon referencing Tim Tebow's Christianity on Thursday's editorial page very offensive. I can agree that many people are out for what God can do for them, not how they can serve God, But I do not see any evidence of that attitude or life style in Tim Tebow's life. Time will tell.

Good riddance to the doctor unable to take Medicaid patients?! Do you work for free? I bet you go to work and expect a paycheck. Why would the doctor be any different? Blame our fearless leaders, not the doctors. And you are WAY out of line questioning whether that person is Christian or not. Sounds like the person who thinks preachers should work for free.

Amazing: Even a judgmental person like yourself can’t even bother to get the facts straight before you criticize something. Jason Collins did an extremely brave thing by coming out in a world filled with people such as yourself. Words of Wisdom: Leave the judging to God.

To all who use Coleman Road as a short cut between Old Highway 41 North and North Valdosta Road, please remember the speed limit is 35, not 65. Tailgating me isn’t going to make me go faster. Remember, it’s our neighborhoods, not your short cut!
