Some people live in a certain area because that's all they can afford, not necessarily because they want to live there. I'm sure every family wants to send their child (or children) to the best school possible. But, unfortunately, economics plays a big part in where families send their kids to school. I wish I could move to wherever the grass is greener.

I want to give a huge rave to Valdosta Lowndes Parks and Recreation. My child has been playing sports there for about five years and this past year it seems that the program has improved and we are enjoying it more than ever. Thank you

We need school superintendents and administrators that are concerned with education and learning and not the politics of their position or future positions. It is very evident that many school administrations are riding the wave to the next position.

The new vehicle tax inquired about is called TAVT. It takes the place of the annual “birthday” tax and catches vehicles previously sold untaxed. I, personally, like it. It's currently 6.5 percent of value, but will increase. Go to www.newtitletax.com and learn more about it.

What is up with the new tag and title fees at the tag office? You have to pay 10 percent of your vehicles worth for a tag and title. Who has $2,000 for a tag and title fees? Ad valorem was crazy outrageous, but this is plain stupid!

What was remarkable about the T.C. Williams high school story was the hiring of a black head football coach during the turbulent times of integration. A milestone yet to be realized in Valdosta 42 years later.

Those who claim to be socially liberal have few problems complaining about overweight individuals, smokers, Christians, or gun owners. Yet, they scream and complain when the ones they criticize voice opposition against the lifestyles of lesbians, gays, and transgenders.

Our leaders don't walk the innovation talk in their mission statement. Instead, they thoughtlessly tax more. In Washington, D.C., a camera more cost effectively collected $11 million in speeding tickets in two years. We could also use mobile cameras to fine litterers. Have them clean roadsides to walk their KLVB talk. No to SPLOST. Yes to innovation.

When is the City of Valdosta going to start spraying for mosquitoes? The area around McKey Park and neighborhoods by the creek are over run with the pests. Please help us.
