Middle school and high school educators from coast to coast recently participated in a three-day seminar in Pittsburg, Kansas, that prepared them to facilitate learning in the innovative Pitsco Education labs installed in their schools.
Christy Craven, Engineering and Technolgy Education teacher at Lowndes Middle School, was among the teachers who attended the seminar and learned about this revolutionary learning system. In Pitsco Education labs, students are empowered to take responsibility for their learning, while practicing valuable skills such as teamwork and communication. Teachers become facilitators of learning and spend more one-on-one time with students.
Pitsco Education Modules middle level curricula include an intensive seven-session exploration of a particular topic. Modules are delivered at workstations that house everything students need to complete their activities. The Module content is delivered to students through an interactive multimedia curriculum. Video, text, graphics, and animations explain concepts and direct activities while on-screen evaluations and assessments record student comprehension at various intervals. Module topics cover a broad range and integrate elements of math, science, technology, careers, writing, reading, and research.
The Pitsco Education Modules seminar is designed to prepare teachers to successfully manage their labs and includes detailed information about the components of the system and their application in the classroom.
During their time in Pittsburg, teachers were instructed how to teach their students to successfully manage time, use interactive multimedia equipment and software, perform hands-on activities related to the curriculum, and work cooperatively in pairs.
Pitsco Education has its innovative curriculum in more that 3,500 middle and high schools across the country including Lowndes Middle School, Hahira Middle School, and Pine Grove Middle School.
