VALDOSTA —
Amanda Musgrove, receptionist for the Housing and Residence Life Office, was awarded an Of the Month (OTM) regional award from the South Atlantic Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (SAACURH) organization. This organization is the regional body of Residence Hall Associations (RHA).
“It is such an honor for me to be awarded with the OTM award,” said Musgrove. “I feel so undeserving of the award. I took on this job to help cover my bills while in school, and I didn’t even realize the impact that I have had on others. I am humbled to think that out of everyone in the office, I was chosen to be recognized for the month. My role as a not only a receptionist but also as a mentor/friend to my student assistants is something that I do not take lightly. I will endeavor to lead and motivate my student assistants to my utmost ability.”
The OTM awards are given monthly to residents and staff members. OTM’s are written about people, organizations or programs that have made a positive impact on the housing community during a given month.
“Amanda did an exceptional job serving as a student assistant, and we are pleased she has moved into the receptionist role,” said Leighia Hammond, associate director of Housing and Residence Life.
Born and raised in Valdosta, Amanda Musgrove joined the VSU staff in Fall 2011 as a student assistant. She became the receptionist for the Housing and Residence Life Office in Fall 2012.
“I want to say a big thank you to Jake Jones for expressing his confidence in me and to Dr. Hardy for giving me the opportunity to work with the wonderful students and staff in the Office of Housing and Residence Life at VSU,” said Musgrove.
In her spare time, Musgrove loves spending time with her family, especially her daughter. She is also a big fan of the arts and admits having a weakness for shopping. Musgrove is currently pursuing her degree in Office Administration but plans to obtain higher certifications in the future.
