VSU Initiative Focuses On Graduating More Science Teachers
Through a partnership with the Valdosta City School System and an award of nearly $1.2 million from the National Science Foundation, Valdosta State University hopes to more than double the number of science teachers it graduates each year. Before spring semester ends, 10 academically talented, financially needy sophomore biology, chemistry, geosciences, physics, and astronomy students will be recruited for participation in the first cohort of the Valdosta Noyce Scholars Science Teacher Preparation and Retention project.
VSU/Wiregrass Articulation Agreement
Valdosta State University president Dr. Bill McKinney and president of Wiregrass Georgia Technical College Dr. Ray Perren met Thursday morning to sign an articulation agreement for a new Pathways Program.

VSU’s Jackson Rainer Wins National Health Information Award
Dr. Jackson Patten Rainer recently won a bronze medal in the 2012 National Health Information Awards for his article “Neutralizing Stigma,” which was published in the July/August 2011 issue of the bi-monthly Arthritis Self-Management magazine.

Sandra Sheppard is Chosen as Wiregrass Georgia Technical College’s GOAL Winner
Sandra Sheppard has been selected as the 2013 Wiregrass Georgia Technical College’s Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) winner. Sheppard is a student in the Business Administrative Technology program and was nominated by her instructor, Christi Fletcher, Business Administrative Technology Instructor.
Spectrum Connection Holds First Meeting of the Year, Welcomes LGBT Community
The Spectrum Connection, facilitated by interns from Valdosta State University’s Marriage and Family Therapy program and FamilyWorks Therapy Clinic, will hold its first group meeting of the year Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. at the FamilyWorks Therapy Clinic.
