VALDOSTA —
The Valdosta State women’s soccer team is asking red-clad Blazer fans to fill up the stands on Friday at the VSU Soccer Complex to support the Blazers in their match against defending Gulf South Conference champion North Alabama.
It will be a Red Out game. Fans are encouraged to wear as much red as possible to support the Blazers.
The game begins at 5 p.m.
All children wearing their Azalea City Soccer Club or South Georgia United Academy/Select uniform will be admitted to the game for free.
In 2011, the team’s inaugural season, Valdosta State made it all the way to the Gulf South Conference championship match against North Alabama. The Blazers had beaten North Alabama during the regular season (1-0), but they fell to the Lions 5-3 in the title game. Friday night is Valdosta State’s first game against North Alabama since the GSC championship game. It’s also an important conference match for the Blazers.
Parking is limited at the VSU Soccer Complex, so Valdosta State will run shuttles from the Sustella Parking Lot (the lot between the Centennial Residence Hall and the VSU Student Recreational Center) to the VSU Soccer Complex, starting approximately an hour before the match (4 p.m. on Friday). The shuttles will run until the start of the match, and will resume at the conclusion of the match.
