Pruitt hired at Georgia Southern

Former Valdosta State quarterback Tucker Pruitt has reunited with Georgia Southern head coach Chris Hatcher, his former coach at VSU. Pruitt will work on the offensive staff and assist Hatcher with the quarterbacks.

During his four years, Pruitt played in 30 games, throwing for nearly 1,500 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also rushed for five touchdowns in his career as well.

He was a member of the 2007 national championship team and was a redshirt on the 2004 title team.

In 2008 Pruitt split time as a starter with Chris Hart and started both of VSU’s playoff games.

Originally from Fitzgerald, Pruitt was a standout in the classroom as well earning a spot on the Academic Honor Roll all four years. He graduated from VSU with a bachelor’s degree in Health/Physical Education in spring 2008 and is currently finishing his requirements for a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from VSU.

Pruitt is the son of Fitzgerald High School coach Robbie Pruitt.

“Football is something that I’ve always been a part of growing up with my dad,” Pruitt told the Times last August. “I was the little water boy or ball boy. I’ve always been around it. (My dad) helped me develop a deep passion for the game, so (coaching) is something I want to pursue in the future.”
