Former NFL coach Dan Reeves to speak at VSU FCA event

VALDOSTA — Former NFL head coach Dan Reeves will be the guest speaker at the Valdosta State University Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ Dinner with a Legend event Thursday, Nov. 8.

This year’s event will be held at Crosspointe Church, located at 110 Northside Drive in Valdosta. The event will feature a seafood buffet followed by Coach Reeves’ comments.

The cost for the event is $50 per person and table sponsorships are available for $500. Interested persons should contact Anna Wetherington by e-mail at alowther@fca.org or via phone at 229-232-4139.

Reeves spent 23 seasons as a coach in the National Football League, working for the Denver Broncos, New York Giants and the Atlanta Falcons. He played or coaches in a record nine Super Bowls — five with the Dallas Cowboys, three as the head coach of the Denver Broncos and one with the Atlanta Falcons.

Reeves complied a 190-165-2 record as an NFL coach. His most notable work came in his 12 years with the Broncos when he led them to three Super Bowls and was named the Coach of the Decade in the 1980’s. He also led the Atlanta Falcons to their only Super Bowl appearance in 1998 when the Falcons won their first NFC championship.

 He currently resides in the Atlanta area with his wife Pam. The couple has three children and six grandchildren.

At last year’s Dinner with a Legend, former Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden was the guest speaker.

    The Blazers won their third South Region championship Saturday, beating Alabama-Huntsville 8-3 in game three of the best-of-three series at Steel’s Diamond at Blazer Park.
