VALDOSTA —
The viewing for former Lowndes football star Ed Christian will be held today from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. at the BTW Funeral Services Chapel located at 1108 East Screven Street in Quitman.
Friends and community members will get an opportunity to pay their respects to the 20-year old that was tragically shot and killed last Saturday while attending an off-campus pool party in Auburn, Ala.
Christian will be laid to rest Saturday at a cemetery in Boston, following a funeral service at Mathis City Auditorium in Valdosta. Saturday’s service is set to start at 1 p.m.
Desmonte Leonard, 22, is facing three counts of capital murder for the killing of Christian and two other males on Saturday. He turned himself into Montgomery, Ala. authorities on Tuesday night.
Christian graduated from Lowndes High School in 2010 and accepted a football scholarship to Auburn University, where he suffered a back injury that cut his career short.
Despite the injury, Christian was still enrolled in classes at Auburn working his way to a college degree.
While at Lowndes, Christian was a member of the 2007 state championship football team and was named an AJC Super 11 selection his senior season.
