Vikettes fall to Tift County, 55-49
TIFTON — The Lowndes girls’ basketball team fell to 0-2 in Region 1-AAAAAA following a 55-49 loss to Tift County Tuesday night.
Junior Tashia Brown finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Asha Jordan Hayes also finished with 11 points.
Lowndes hosts Brunswick Friday night in Valdosta.
Lady ’Cats beat Colquitt County, 52-43
MOULTRIE — Led by Stormm Phillips’ 25 points, the Valdosta girls’ basketball team improved to 12-1 overall and 2-0 in Region 1-AAAAAA with a 52-43 win over Colquitt County.
Along with Phillips’ 25 points, Sierra Phillips finished with 11 points, in what head coach E.A. Wilcox described as a “total team effort.”
Valdosta hosts region newcomer Camden County Friday night.
Wildcats beat Packers, 73-51
MOULTRIE — Clarence Smith scored 24 points and Rashad Lewis added 20 as the Valdosta Wildcats beat region foe Colquitt County 73-51 Tuesday night in Moultrie.
Head coach Antonio Haynes said the Wildcats played a strong first half, and finished the game strong in the second half.
With the win, the Wildcats improved to 9-3 overall and 2-0 in Region 1-AAAAAA.
Blue Devils beat Vikings
TIFTON — The nationally ranked Tift County Blue Devils beat the Lowndes Vikings 59-46.
Eric Henderson had 13 points for the Vikings, while Tremayne Tippins and Justin Henderson each finished with 10. Lowndes hosts Brunswick Friday night in Valdosta.

Prince Automotive of Valdosta is supporting the Valdosta community through its partnership with the Valdosta/Lowndes County Recreation Department. Needmore holds final races before big Memorial Day weekend

VSU softball wins South Region, headed to nationals
For the third time in four years, and second in a row, Valdosta State’s softball team will play in the national championship tournament.
The Blazers won their third South Region championship Saturday, beating Alabama-Huntsville 8-3 in game three of the best-of-three series at Steel’s Diamond at Blazer Park. -
VSU baseball season comes to an end
Delta State scored seven unanswered runs to defeat Valdosta State 7-2 in an elimination game of the NCAA South Region Tournament at the UT Baseball Field Saturday afternoon.
