COLUMBIA, S.C. —
Winter weather in the Columbia, S.C. area has caused the cancellation of the Valdosta State-Benedict baseball series scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
The two teams were to play one game on Saturday and one on Sunday, but a Winter Weather Warning scheduled for all day Saturday caused the cancellation of the series. The Columbia area is expecting an inch of snow on Saturday.
Valdosta State returns to action Wednesday, when it hosts Columbus State at 5 p.m. at Billy Grant Field.

The Valdosta State softball team made the long journey to Salem, Va. Tuesday, leaving Valdosta at 10:30 a.m. with devoted fans cheering them out of the parking lot.
