VALDOSTA —
There is a three-way tie for the lead after two rounds of the 73rd annual Jack Oliver Invitational at the Valdosta Country Club.
Sam Hogan, Chad Follett and Casey Willis are tied for first in the championship flight at 141 heading into today’s final round. They will play together in the final pairing, teeing off at 1:03 p.m.
John Gregory Joseph, who won the Valdosta Open at the Valdosta Country Club earlier this year, is tied for fourth with Kevin Blanton at 143. Hogan, Follett, Willis, Joseph and Blanton are the only five golfers with scores under par.
First-round leader David Dukes, who shot a 67 on Friday, carded a 77 on Saturday and fell back to sixth at 144.
Marcus Beck and Hiland Sanders are tied for seventh at 145. Dowling Armstrong, Blake DeCesare and Steve Seward are tied for ninth at 148.
The final round of the championship flight will be played this afternoon.
While the championship flight is using a stroke play format, the other flights are using a Stableford format. Under the Stableford format, points are assigned for scores on each hole (birdies, eagles and double eagles earn points, while bogeys, double bogeys and worse scores earn negative points). In the Jack Oliver, a pre-determined number (based on a player’s handicap) is subtracted from the player’s score after their round.
John Lastinger leads the first flight with a score of plus-5. John Alday is second at plus-3, followed by Brad Folsom at plus-2 and Thompson Kurrie at plus-1.
Britt Baxter leads the second flight at plus-6. Dale Parker is second at plus-3, while Michael Denham and Ferrell Scruggs are tied for third at plus-1.
Mike Drumheller III leads the third flight, after earning a plus-6. Greg Hunter has a plus-1, Byron Courson’s score is zero and Ryan Hancock and David Sule are tied for fourth at minus-1.
Royce Coleman has the fourth flight lead at plus-5. Tommy Hobby is close behind at plus-4 and Daniel Knight has a plus-3. Barry Chapman and Brad Adams are tied for fourth at minus-1.
The fifth flight leader is Matt King at plus-5. Joe French has a plus-3, Ken Bryson has a plus-2 and Jeremy Davis has a plus-1.
Joe Griffin leads the Senior A flight at plus-9. Ron Hogan and J.D. Sessums are tied for second at plus-7. Mike Chapman and Tom Getman are tied for fourth at plus-4.
Bob Holliway has a seven-point lead in the Senior B flight, after earning a plus-11. Bob Bellingrath is second at plus-4, followed by Tom Warren, Mickey Waagner and Tom Kurrie, who are tied for third at plus-2.
The Stableford flights will tee off from 8-9:30 a.m. today.
