NORMAN PARK —
It was a busy Saturday at Needmore Speedway in Colquitt County.
Due to inclement weather two weeks ago, Needmore Speedway ran four features from the previous rained out weekend before running its scheduled night of racing, giving fans an action-packed night of racing.
In the first Late Model feature, Brandon Dewitt finished first with Tom Jones Jr. second and Gene Ross third, after starting eighth.
In the second feature, Gene Ross took the pole in qualifying. He later finished first, followed by Stacy Roberts in second and Steven Roberts in third.
In Limited Late Model, Jeffery Summerlin finished first in the opening feature, followed by Gene Maine and Johnny Tawzer. In the second feature, Gene Maine finished first, followed by and Russell Brown Jr. in second.
In the Hobby Stock Division first feature, Randy Merwin took first place with Lee Newsome coming in second, followed by Leon Childs in third. In the second feature, Slyder Guthrie was first, with Ronnie Newsome and Randy Merwin in second and third.
In the Enduro Class, Jason Lang won the first feature and Ryan Hembre won the second feature.
There was only one feature race in the Super Street Division. Terry Redding finished first, with Chris Cunningham taking second.
Racing will continue at Needmore Speedway on Sept. 7th.
Gates will open at 3 p.m. Hotlaps will begin 6 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m.

Prince Automotive donates new baseball equipment
Prince Automotive of Valdosta is supporting the Valdosta community through its partnership with the Valdosta/Lowndes County Recreation Department. The dealership has joined forces with the national Chevrolet Youth Baseball program to provide new equipment, instructional clinics, and a monetary donation.

Needmore holds final races before big Memorial Day weekend
Saturday night racing at Needmore Speedway saw some new faces in victory lane.
That wasn’t the case in the Late Model division, as Valdosta's Gene Ross drove to victory once again, but not without some close competition from Steven Roberts who came in second.
In the Limited Late Model class, it was another win for Cole Exum, with Gene Maine finishing second in the NAPA Auto Parts special. -
VSU softball wins South Region, headed to nationals
For the third time in four years, and second in a row, Valdosta State’s softball team will play in the national championship tournament.
The Blazers won their third South Region championship Saturday, beating Alabama-Huntsville 8-3 in game three of the best-of-three series at Steel’s Diamond at Blazer Park. -
VSU baseball season comes to an end
Delta State scored seven unanswered runs to defeat Valdosta State 7-2 in an elimination game of the NCAA South Region Tournament at the UT Baseball Field Saturday afternoon.
