VALDOSTA —
University of Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo will speak at the Valdosta High School football banquet next Tuesday in Valdosta.
Bobo will start the awards ceremony portion of the banquet by addressing the football players and their families at 7:30 p.m.
Valdosta High Touchdown Club members in 2012 are admitted free to the event and non-Touchdown Club members can attend for $10.
Doors to the banquet open at 6 p.m., with food being served inside the Valdosta High cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. The awards portion of the night will be held inside the Performing
Arts Center.
Over the past few years, Bobo has built a strong relationship with Valdosta High football and head coach Rance Gillespie. Bobo was the lead recruiter for former Wildcats and current Bulldog players Malcolm Mitchell and Jay Rome.
The Wildcats finished the 2012 season with a 7-4 record, including a 42-14 rout by North Cobb in the first round of the Class 6A state playoffs.

Prince Automotive donates new baseball equipment
Prince Automotive of Valdosta is supporting the Valdosta community through its partnership with the Valdosta/Lowndes County Recreation Department. Needmore holds final races before big Memorial Day weekend

VSU softball wins South Region, headed to nationals
For the third time in four years, and second in a row, Valdosta State’s softball team will play in the national championship tournament.
The Blazers won their third South Region championship Saturday, beating Alabama-Huntsville 8-3 in game three of the best-of-three series at Steel’s Diamond at Blazer Park. -
VSU baseball season comes to an end
Delta State scored seven unanswered runs to defeat Valdosta State 7-2 in an elimination game of the NCAA South Region Tournament at the UT Baseball Field Saturday afternoon.
