VALDOSTA —
Basketball season is just around the corner, and the Valdosta State men’s basketball team will hold its annual fundraising event Nov. 15-16.
The Blazers’ Dinner and Auction will be held Thursday, Nov. 15 at the Elks Lodge on Highway 84 in Valdosta.
The annual golf tournament will be held the following day at Valdosta Country Club. Hole sponsorship is available for $500.
The day will be concluded with the Blazers’ game against Carver College that night at the P.E. Complex.
Interested persons looking to participate in the annual fundraising efforts may contact associate head coach Nick Gast at men’s basketball offices at (229) 333-5904.
Thursday’s dinner and auction will begin with a social hour at 5 p.m. and a steak dinner at 6 p.m.
The night will include a Meet the 2012 Blazers at 7 p.m., followed by the auction at 7:30.
Friday’s golf event will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. from VCC. Food, prizes and raffle ticket awards will follow the day’s round of gold.
The fundraising efforts are to help offset the cost of running a successful college athletic program. The state of Georgia does not financially support college athletics.
The Valdosta State men’s basketball team opens its season on Saturday, Nov. 10 against Point University at 8 p.m.

Basketball season ticket holders that have not renewed their season tickets from 2011-12 must do so by the close of business (5 p.m.) on Wednesday.
Tickets that are not renewed will be open for purchase starting at the open of business on Thursday morning.
