VALDOSTA —
The Valdosta YMCA Piranha swim team racked up 587 combined team points to win the YMCA’s annual swim meet Saturday morning.
The Moultrie Sharks swim team finished second, although finishing 213 points behind the Piranha at 374 team points. The Marianna Marlins were third at 298 points and the Douglas Stingrays finished last with 268 points.
The win marked the second consecutive year the Piranha have won their own event after edging Tifton last year.
The Piranha had 13 swimmers finish in the top three of their respective age groups. The Piranah finished in the top three of the 13-14 year old female individual scores and the top three of the 15-18 year old female individual scores.
Valdosta’s Coleman Yates finished second in individual points in the 7-8 male division with 23 points. Moultrie’s Case Gregory finished first with 30 points.
Valdosta’s Victoria Bergeson and Lindsey Bennett finished second and third, respectively, in the 9-10 female division. Bergeson finished the swim meet with 24 points and Bennett finished with 14.
In the 9-10 male division, Valdosta’s Brandon Fineout finished first with 27 points, edging Douglas’ Daylong Cauley, who finished with 25 points. Douglas’ Dru Johnson was third with 23 points.
In the 11-12 year old female division, Valdosta’s Ravyn Marlin finished third with 19 points.
In the 13-14 female division, Jordan Ray placed first with 33 points, Rebecca Rankin finished second with 25 points and Morgan Sherry was third with 20 points. All three girls are 14 years old.
In the 13-14 male division, Valdosta’s Cannon George, 14, finished in first with 35 points.
In the 15-18 year old female division, Valdosta swept all three places. Katelynn Keworthy and Cassie Geltner tied for first with 26 points each, while Madison Marshall was one-point behind with 25. In the 15-18 male division, Valdosta’s Austin Wallace finished second with 25 points.

Gillespie, McPherson pleased with spring practices
