The Titletown All-Stars will play for a state championship in Atlanta’s Georgia Dome on Saturday.
The 10U All-Stars from the Valdosta Boys and Girls Club will face the South Columbus Falcons in the National Preparatory Football Association’s Southern National Championships State Championship Game.
Kickoff is set for 10 a.m. (subject to change) in the Georgia Dome, the home to the Super Bowl contending Atlanta Falcons.
The Titletown All-Stars’ only loss in the state tournament came against the Falcons. In fact, the All-Stars were held scoreless in the game, losing a close 7-0 decision. Since then, the All-Stars from Valdosta won every game, including last week’s semifinal win in Athens, to advance to the state championship game.
In the semifinals, the All-Stars beat the Columbus Raiders 39-6 in Athens on Saturday. Several players scored touchdowns, including Justin Rome, who scored on a 10-yard rushing touchdown. Robby Quiggins was the only player to score multiple touchdowns in the win.
The All-Stars even got tricky with their scoring, as Ferringhetti Brown hauled in a 50-yard touchdown pass from halfback Rome.
Norman Wright, a new addition to the team, scored on a 40-yard interception return. Wright stepped in front of a shovel pass and returned it for the touchdown.
Dexter Withers forced a fumble on a sack. Jaylon Jones recovered the fumble.
Prior to the game, the All-Stars were able to watch the Valdosta State football team win the NCAA Division II national championship on a 32-inch television the parents hooked up in the parking lot.
That seemed to be enough to get the players motivated.
Tickets for Saturday’s game at the Georgia Dome at $20. All fans that purchase a ticket for the game will be granted admission to the North versus South High School All-Star Game later in the afternoon.
The Titletown All-Stars came together in November, following the completion of the Boys and Girls Club regular season. Since coming together, the All-Stars won the Turkey Bowl in Tifton, the Timber Bowl in Patterson and the Citizens Bowl in Ocilla.
The team is under the direction of JB Brown, a youth football coach with more than 13 years of experience. The members of the team include: Joshua Brown, Ferringhetti Brown, Walker Corbett, Noah Hart, Justin Lee, I.J. Mitchell, Byron McKelvin, Robby Quiggins, Justin Rome, Jack Spells, Bryer Touchton, MarkAnthony Audain, Shawn Martin, Arendez Fedd, Isaiah Williams, Tiberius Drocea, Carter Holley, Dexter Withers, Jaiden Williams, Jaylon Jones and Will Steinberg.
