NASHVILLE —
The Region 1-AA champion Berrien Rebels were eliminated from the state playoffs Friday night, being swept by Brantley County.
The Rebels fell 6-4 in an eight inning game one, before falling 5-3 in game two.
Drew Harrelson started game one and went all seven innings, striking out 10 batters along the way, before being replaced by Kal Simmons, who allowed two runs on three hits in the inning. Dalton McMillian was 4 for 5 with 2 runs batted in in the game one loss, while Logan balkcom, Dalton Ingram and Devonte Bass each had singles. Hunter Garrett had a sacrifice fly.
In the second game, Simmons led Berrien offensively with two hits, while also pitching six innings.
Berrien, which was the away team in game two, jumped out to a 1-0 lead before surrendering four runs in the fifth inning to Brantley County, which was started by a an error on Berrien.
The Rebels responded with a run in the sixth inning before Brantley County added a run in the bottom of the sixth, which made the score 5-3. Balkcom had a hit in game two, while Taylor Griner, Joe McCrainey and Shawn Whitt each had hits.

Gillespie, McPherson pleased with spring practices
