ORLANDO, Fla. —
Valdosta State's golf team shot a final round 303 to finish tied for fourth at the McDonough Cup held at the par-72, 7,001-yard Rio Pinar Country Club Tuesday.
VSU finished the tournament with a 36-over 900 to finish 23 strokes behind tournament champion Lynn. Nova Southeastern was second at 880, followed by Florida Southern at 892. Mount Olive and host Rollins also shot a 900, while Barry and Columbus State tied for seventh at 901. Georgia College was a stroke behind and in ninth, while Florida Tech rounded out the top 10 with a 909.
Carson-Newman finished the tournament 11th at 918, while Armstrong Atlantic and Queens tied for 12th at 919. Flagler shot a three-round total of 922 to finish 14th and Tampa and UNC-Pembroke tied for 15th at 934. Catawba was 17th at 941, while Eckerd rounded out the field at 944.
VSU had two players finish in the top 20 individually. Nate Anderson tied for 10th at 221 after shooting a 75 on Tuesday, while John Fordham fired a final round 74 to tie for 19th at 224. Clarke Hendrick was three strokes behind and tied for 27th, while Abdul Sihag shot a 229 to tie for 36th and Austin Graham a 245 to tie for 89th.
The tournament concludes Valdosta State's fall schedule. The Blazers do not return to action until Feb. 11, when they take part in the Matlock Collegiate in Lakeland, Fla.

VSU softball wins South Region, headed to nationals
For the third time in four years, and second in a row, Valdosta State’s softball team will play in the national championship tournament.
