BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —
Four Valdosta State volleyball players earned All-Gulf South Conference honors on Tuesday.
The GSC named Tania Tauiliili and Katie Onushko to the All-GSC first team and Ashley Lala and Chelsea Luttfring to the second team.
Valdosta State joined West Florida as the team leaders in most student-athletes recognized with four. Christian Brothers had three, while West Alabama and West Georgia each added two. Alabama-Huntsville and North Alabama both had one honoree.
Tauiliili, Onushko and Luttfring take home the honor as seniors. Lala, a sophomore setter, was named to the All-Conference team for the second time in as many seasons.
For Tauiliili, she has been named All-GSC twice in her career, both coming as a second teamer. This marks the first time she’s been a first team honoree.
Onushko was honored her junior season, but also as a second teamer. This is her first time on the first team.
Luttfring was an All-GSC selection for the first time.
Lala was named Freshman of the Year last season and made the All-GSC second team as well.
The four All-GSC players will lead Valdosta State into the Gulf South Conference Tournament this weekend in Pensacola, Fla.
The Blazers will first face North Alabama at 3:30 p.m. EST. If they win, they will advance to face top seed West Florida at 1 p.m. EST on Saturday. If Valdosta State can win those two matches, the Blazers will be playing for the GSC Championship at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
