VALDOSTA —
Lowndes Middle School’s football teams won their season openers on Wednesday.
Lowndes Middle’s eighth grade team defeated Cook 28-6. Izaac Garcia had a three-yard touchdown run. Jourdan Wright returned an interception 60 yards for a score. Tyson Harris picked off a pass and returned it to the 1-yard line, then scored on the next play. Harris also had a 23-yard touchdown pass to Xavier Jenkins. Malik Wright and Jaylon Bell ran for two-point conversions.
Lowndes Middle’s seventh grade team beat Coffee 30-20. Austin Robinson had a big game, scoring on touchdown runs of 30, 34 and 26 yards. T.J. Harris scored on a 34-yard run. Harris, Michael Barrett and Dalton Hall had two-point conversion runs. Tymere Moore caught a 40-yard pass, and Quadarius Birdsong picked off a pass for the Vikings.
Lowndes Middle’s seventh grade team will travel to Moultrie to face Colquitt County’s Black team next Wednesday, while the LMS eighth grade team will host Colquitt’s Black team next Thursday.
Valdosta Middle hammers Colquitt
MOULTRIE — Valdosta Middle School’s seventh grade football team routed Colquitt County’s Black team 46-14 on Wednesday.
Terrance Williams scored touchdowns on runs of 27 and 32 yards for the Tomcats. Tayte Barry scored on an 18-yard run and also had three two-point conversions. Tyreik Harrell scored on a 42-yard run. Jaylen Everett returned an interception 38 yards for a touchdown. Lance Eldridge completed two-point conversion passes to Barry and Lucas Musgrove.
Eric Simmons made 18 tackles for the Tomcats (1-0), who host Colquitt’s Gold team next Wednesday.
