AMERICUS — The Valdosta girls’ soccer team improved to 2-0 Friday night, routing Americus 10-0. Seven different Lady Wildcats scored on the night, led by Lorna Chitty’s hat-trick. Chitty’s three goals paced the Lady Wildcats, who also saw goals from Liana Ochoa (2), Amy Nelson, Anisha Huewitt, Samantha McLendon, Claire Kirkpatrick and Leah Goodson.
Valdosta boys fall to Americus, 3-2
AMERICUS — Despite 20 total shots, the Valdosta boys soccer team lost for the first time in 2013 Friday night.
The Wildcats lost to Americus 3-2, after surrendering two late goals to Americus, including one with less than a minute to play. Valdosta scored two straight to take a 2-1 lead in the 68th minute. Biak Cin scored in the 20th minute, making the score 1-1 at the half. Then, Valdosta’s Alex Cosper scored to give the Wildcats a 2-1 lead. Americus scored in 71st minute and then again in the 79th minute, the final minute of play.
