CARROLLTON —
The Valdosta State men's and women's tennis teams were hardly threatened, as the two teams combined to win three Gulf South Conference matches on Saturday.
The Lady Blazers claimed two of the wins, as they defeated both Christian Brothers and West Georgia 9-0. The VSU men also downed Christian Brothers 9-0.
The women cruised through their morning match against UWG, as they won all three doubles points, losing only two games in the process. VSU was just as dominant in singles play, as it won 6-0, 6-0 at both No. 1 and No. 2 and claimed 6-0, 6-1 wins at No. 3, 4 and 5 and a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 6.
The afternoon match against Christian Brothers was even easier for the Lady Blazers, as they won all three doubles points and won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6. CBU's only game won in the match came at No. 2, where VSU won 6-0, 6-1.
The men's match against Christian Brothers followed to form, as Valdosta State opened the match with a pair of victories by default and did not drop a game in doubles. In fact, CBU's only game won came at No. 1 singles, where Valdosta State won 6-0, 6-1. VSU rolled to 6-0 victories at No. 2, 3, 4 and 5.
Valdosta State returns to action Thursday, when it hosts West Florida at the VSU Tennis Courts at 5 p.m.
