VALDOSTA —
The Valdosta-Lowndes County Family YMCA will host its 23rd Annual YMCA Golf Tournament at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club on Thursday. The event will begin at 10 a.m.
Proceeds from the annual event benefit the YMCA’s Youth Programs, Summer Day Camp, PrimeTime, Gymnastics, Swim Team, Challenger League and many more programs that the YMCA offers. In turn, they give back to the United Way Annual Campaign.
“We really appreciate all the generosity from our community in support of the 23rd Annual YMCA Golf Tournament,” said YMCA Chief Executive Officer Lawrence S. Tobey.
“Part of the proceeds are donated to the United Way to help our sister agencies as well: America’s Second Harvest Food Bank, Easter Seals, Habitat for Humanity, LAMP, Moody Airman, Red Cross, Salvation Army, The Haven, Children’s Advocacy Center, Jacobs’ Ladder, Boys & Girls Club, Boy Scouts, Southside Recreation and ACTO.”
Sponsors for this year’s event include: Chick-fil-A, Johnson's Distributing, Langdale Ford, Mediacom, Pepsi and South Georgia Medical Center.
Last year’s top gross team winner was AFLAC. Players included Rusty Parker, Jason Roberts, Bernie Armstrong and Karen Bennett. The top net winner last year was The Langdale Company. Players included Randy Terrill, Mark Robinson, Larry Tobey and Jim Hickman.
Along with team prizes, there will be a raffle, a putting contest and the million dollar shoot-out.
