VALDOSTA —
The 8th Annual Charles Cooper Memorial Tip-off Tournament begins this afternoon at Lowndes High School.
Four games will be played today and four on Tuesday at the Lowndes gymnasium.
The Valdosta girls get the action started at 4 p.m. when they face Warner-Robins. The Valdosta boys will face Howard at 5:30 p.m.
Lowndes’ girls team will host Griffin at 7 p.m., with the LHS boys facing Griffin at 8:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, the Valdosta girls and boys will face Griffin at 4 and 5:30 p.m, while the Lowndes girls will face Warner-Robins at 7 p.m. and the boys will host Howard.
The games will serve as the season openers for both Valdosta teams after scrimmaging Brooks County on Saturday night. Both Lowndes teams are already two games into their respective seasons. Both the Vikettes and Vikings are 1-1 following losses to Thomas County Central and wins over Tattnall County.
The Lowndes girls and the Valdosta boys are the reigning Region 1-6A (previously 1-5A) champions.
