VALDOSTA —
Saturday’s Division II National Championship Game, where the Valdosta State Blazers will face the Winston-Salem State Rams in Florence, Ala., has sparked a friendly competition between the mayors of each city.
Valdosta Mayor John Gayle and Winston-Salem Mayor Allen Joines have wagered a friendly bet on behalf of their city’s teams. If the Blazers win the championship, Gayle will receive a box of doughnuts and some Texas Pete Hot Sauce from the Winston-Salem mayor. If the Rams win Saturday’s game, Joines will be receiving a gift box of South Georgia Pecans.
Both mayors have expressed their best wishes for all players to play safe and show good sportsmanship throughout the game.

Georgia Sparks win championship in Orlando
The Georgia Sparks Basketball Teams traveled to Orlando, Florida to compete in Spring Fling 2 Super Region Tournament which took place at Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando. This was a busy weekend for the Sparks which brought three teams and over 30 parents.
