ATLANTA —
A Georgia developer is planning to pitch his proposed $1 billion gambling complex to the Georgia Lottery Board.
Developer Dan O’Leary says he will present the project on Thursday before the seven-member board. He describes it as an “initial introduction to get the ball rolling.”
O’Leary has already signed on legendary Georgia football player Herschel Walker to open a sports bar and restaurant at the site, which would also include 7,500 video lottery terminals, a towering hotel, spa, theater and other restaurants.
O’Leary says it could generate $350 million each year for the Hope scholarship program and create 2,500 jobs. It must also be approved by the Gwinnett County Commission, but O’Leary and his supporters say it wouldn’t need legislative approval.
