Officer shoots 13-year-old burglary suspect in Ga.

JONESBORO, Ga. —  Authorities say a Clayton County police officer shot an armed 13-year-old boy after responding to a burglary.

WSB-TV (http://bit.ly/N3mFRT ) reports that the shooting occurred before 2:30 p.m. Wednesday on Bonanza Church Road. Police say several people were burglarizing a home in the area, but scattered when officers appeared.

Clayton County Police Chief Greg Porter says the suspect pointed a weapon at the officer before the shooting. The officer shot the boy in the head, and his condition is unknown.

Officers are still searching the area for suspects.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting.
