Bond denied for Ga. girl, 13, facing murder trial

DECATUR, Ga. — A DeKalb County Superior Court judge denied bond for a 13-year-old girl facing a murder trial following the death of her 2-year-old half-sister.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (http://bit.ly/UA81au ) reports Judge Mark Anthony Scott says the teen poses a significant threat if she is released. The teen’s attorney asked for the girl to be released to her great-grandmother.

Scott says the court needs more information on circumstances that led up to the attack, and plans for protecting the girl’s great-grandmother if the teen is released. The court may grant the teen another opportunity at bond.

Authorities arrested the girl in November after they say she stabbed her sister in her chest.

The teen has been charged as an adult, but The Associated Press does not identify juveniles accused of crimes.
