Ga. woman may face charges in laughing gas abuse

ATHENS, Ga. — Athens-Clarke County police say a 48-year-old dental office worker may face charges after she was found sedated with a nitrous oxide mask on her face.

The Athens Banner-Herald (http://bit.ly/10cG66J) reports police were called to a dental office Tuesday night by one of the woman’s relatives when she did not return home. When police arrived, they looked through a window at the clinic and saw the woman sitting in a dental chair with the mask on her face.

Police knocked on the window and called medics to evaluate the woman. Authorities say charges will likely be filed against the unidentified woman because nitrous oxide — commonly known as laughing gas — is considered a dangerous drug.

The woman’s identity has not been released.
