THOMASVILLE —
A Thomasville man was in stable condition at Archbold Memorial Hospital Sunday after being shot by a Thomasville police officer earlier in the day.
Travis Snyder, 35, 2005 E. Pine Tree Blvd., was shot once in the torso by a Thomasville police officer, who responded about 2 a.m. Sunday to a domestic situation at the Abbey Lake apartment complex, say officials.
The officer had responded to a domestic situation when the shooting occurred, said Steve Turner, special agent in charge of the Thomasville regional office of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The officer's name is not being released by the GBI, which is investigating the shooting.
The officer has been placed on paid administrative leave until the GBI completes the investigation, Assistant Police Chief Troy Rich said.
The GBI will release information about the incident, the assistant chief said.
